It depends. It is a viable way of getting kids to understand that all things must eventually pass, even the things we love... still goddamn heartbreaking though, regardless of the reason. But, for a more practical reason, the contact with the dust and fur from pets can increase a baby's resistance/immune system and reduce the chances of common problems, like asthma.

This is the best baby and dog vid I've ever seen. The dogs have this instinct and I know because I've had dogs myself, but they know when to be gentle with baby's. The look in their eyes is genuine love.

I believe dogs understand that the little creature you have brought home to them now a part of the pack and is to be protected and loved. I have a male peekapoo who has gone through having 2 babies brought home and raised around him and he was so sweet with my boy and my girl. I swear, it just makes you love your dog even more.

As a child I was terribly afraid of my aunt's and uncle's dog for no real reason, and it died from old age soo nafter I was starting to get over my fear. I've had some regrets ever since :(

Me and my wife just had our second son this past Thursday and we have a mini Aussie at home and he’s 2 years old. When we brought home our new son our dog had the same reaction as all these dogs😌😍😍😍

the relationships and the people who make them are not comparable to our life to judge, sometimes friends need space to figure out why they were friends and sometimes with a family its a similar vibe, especially with 3-4+ kids in succession

You can still get hurt "playing", that was totally irresponsible. If you look at the other owners with big dogs, they are holding them back if the dog is energetic. There was another difference too.

Also don't let your dogs sleep next to your baby, they can roll over and smother the baby while they're sleeping if left unattended.

The Rottweiler had no intention of hurting the baby whatsoever :) But you are right... You should never left your baby and (big) dog unobserved for a longer period of time (for a few minutes it should be fine). Not because the dog wants to intentionally hurt your baby, but because of his sheer size he can hurt it accidentally by snuggling, playing etc.
