It's hard when a dog is basically still a puppy, or teenager, they definitely start changing when they get older. But it's very important to teach them right from wrong right in the beginning. Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍

7 months is a teenager in a dog. All our dogs as teenagers were awful, they need a lot of tuition. All ours ended up really good but Heck it can be hard work.

Guess we are lucky... we lived with giant rescues for 40 years, Great Danes and all Moloss types. Up to 4 at a time, intact males mostly, all had their pasts and often problems, but they all turned out nice eventually. All came as adults and some were very old. Maybe raising a puppy and training him or her is harder?

I have had a great dane ages ago and she never acted like this at all. There has to something different in this . I used to have a back and front yard for her to run about. She would bark at strangers along the street and the neighbours loved her for guarding the area. I worked 8 hrs a day and usually when I returned from work , find food that the neighbours brought her. All I needed to do was let out on to the street and she would just do a few laps (?). She lived till 14.

So btw, you can teach a dog that being on top of the couch like Ruger was does NOT mean that they are king of the house. You can train them that they are only allowed up there when you say they can get up. Just like you should do if you want your dog to get on the couch with you. Make them default to ASKING you for permission. They shouldn't just be jumping up there when you're not home or when you sit down. Make it clear that they have their own furniture on the floor and that the couch is for cuddle time.

There’s a major problem with most of the female owners on the show. Graeme is very polite in showing them how to speak with authority. Sometimes there are male owners who have the same issue. The females could try lowering their speaking voice by at least half an octave, some perhaps even more. Both males and female owners definitely need to stop ending their sentences on an upward note, which Graeme has also advised many times before. It hints that the speaker doesn’t have enough conviction regarding their ability to teach and control their dogs. I agree with practically all the other comments here.
