@@felipesalles12 although... I missed the Joe Zawinul synth-part, with that tooth-floss kinda sound. (I'm sorry, that's the best way I can describe it.) Repeating the bass "hook" seems kinda cheap.

This shows up in my feed after 12 years. My favorite guitarist, playing "second fiddle" on one of my favorite songs. Yeah, Knopfler playing second to Clapton. And all of the great guitarists leaving the spotlight for the wonderfully composed piano solo... Honestly, I still see Carbonne in the meat truck EVERY time I hear this song. Smell may be a strong tie to memory, but song is a string tie to movie, if done well, and this was done well. There are certain schematic scenes that are indelibly tied to the music, and this is one of the top five.

I like the flange Eric uses, it adds a little thickness, the same way an echo does. He uses it very noticeably at the Live at Knebworth concert, also with Mark, and it sounds really nice, it something I´ve adopted from him...

The intro to r+j on latter straits tours (which this is a derivative of) was actually written by Alan Clark (the pianist here and in Dire Straits) rather than Mark Knopfler like pretty much every thing else the Straits ever performed.

Eric and Mark, listen Champs.... Many of us would enjoy it if you would visit here in Stafford, Virginia as my personal guest... the fog off the the ocean in the early Autumn would remind you of your British roots....You want Blues Eric?, how about you Mark?... We have them here, cultured, pressed and aged since the early 1600's, ...You won't find this caliber anywhere else in the colonies...I'm not going to take no for an answer.....Both sides of my family have been in Virginia since the mid 1600's, you want Virginia blood that is akin to British blood, get over here and come see me...Sincerely, Michael A. Phillips
