Nice job bro.... Love those ramps. Damn I need a set... Anyway bro the lube you spoke of is that you only need to put your finger in some oil & run it around the rubber piece in the filter. I really enjoyed the video ... Glad you & the wife could do it together..

big kev got those ramps from a scrap pick up and kept them for that reason

Thanks Dan, I will make sure I have the correct oil filter first. I have a 4 cylinder too. 2.4 liter also.

Hard to believe this is the 1st time you ever changed your oil. I see all the tips you should know already suggested. Checking the owners manual for capacity. Taking measurement on level ground. Also recheck the level after you run it awhile and let the oil circulate. Wiping some of the used oil on filter gasket before installing. Also all auto supply stores have catalogs or lookup monitors near the oil filters so you can find the correct filter for your vehicle. You did OK for your 1st time.

It was really my first time I changed the oil once with my neighbor on my truck and that was about 6-7 months ago

And you just use a lil old oil to lube the filter 👍
@mattm50364 жыл бұрын
Just a heads up since you didn't put any oil on the filter gasket, next time you change it make sure the gasket comes off. If not and you put new filter on, you will have a problem. Also just for your safety chock those back wheels. Overall good job for your first time
@72thcking3 жыл бұрын
Good job but you might want to prime the filter and put some fresh oil around the seal of the filter
@genegomez34024 жыл бұрын
Dan you're supposed make sure the oil IS HOT, not let it cool down lol the viscosity of the oil thins out when it's hot allowing allllll the oil to drain properly....and quicker.

I think you need to be level when you check the oil. If you look in your owners manual it will tell you exactly how much oil to put in and what type to use. But you did it! You changed your own oil. What a great feeling that must be. I have never done mine, I'm disabled and can't get on the floor. So live and learn, they say.

@@talldan121 I am not criticizing just trying to impart some important information. Having an empty oil filter requires the system to fill the filter prior to providing oil to the engine components which produces a dry start and is extremely detrimental to the engine bearings and seals. Just trying to help you out

don't you just put a little oil around the filter before you put it on? It's going to be a little hard to take off next filter change.
