I took your advice and got the BlueDriver. The service engine light came on my wife's '10 Grand Caravan and the code reflected a minor vacuum leak in the fuel system and suggested it could be the gas cap. I cleaned the cap and the filler neck, cleared the code and it hasn't come back. A dealer in our town charge $50 to read back codes, so I've half paid for the unit on the first go 'round! Best $100 (CDN) I've spent in a long time. Thank you!

I was just a firestone a month ago to have them replace a wheel bearing. After paying nearly 900 for that they also informed me that my water pump gasket was leaking. My temperature gauge hasn’t gone up. Coolant levels fine. But they recommenced I replace all that because it was leaking. After watching your video I’m convinced it was just the weep hole and they were trying to rip me off. Thanks for the video Scotty. Saved me 500 bucks on a job I didn’t actually need!

Scotty love the videos as they always very helpful information. Growing up in the 60's we would pull the car in the driveway and pull the engine out if it needed it, change plugs, points and condenser use the timing light and you were good to go. Now days with everything electronic you need a degree and tons of equipment to even start working on a car. I let the dealers do it now, buy still watch everything that's done and I have not broken down on the road since the 60's. Cars are great, but you have to take care of them and they will take care of you.

It was over 100° most days with a heat index of 115° - 126° from registered weather stations. The crew from Arizona couldn't handle it any longer and sold there job away. They all said it was the worst working conditions ever anywhere. I'd literally drink two gallons of water before work and three more plus a few Gatorade during and after. Thank goodness for the pumps with weep holes. If your engine is running and you see a stream like I had, it's repair time. A few years ago, I think it was in Syracuse NY, a garage mechanic got into legal troubles because he had conned folks into pump replacements that he either never replaced, replaced with a reman and changed for a new pump, or replaced with a pump from another customer that he had cleaned up. Turned out he was doing that with other things, but this pump vid reminded me of it.

Great information Scotty. I was not aware that it can be normal for a car to “consume“ a small amount of coolant over a long period of time.

Hi Scotty. Just found your awesome videos! Question: I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima with 68k miles. I’ve been hearing horror stories about the transmission. When does the transmission start going bad? Should I sell it before the Tran goes bad and get another car? This is my 4th Maxima and haven’t had any issues in the past.

Joe B Nissans have CVTs and they usually go out around 80k miles. Hopefully you have a 100k mile warranty on it. I had a 2016 Versa and the transmission went out at 60k and then again at 80k. Depending on your situation, start trying to formulate an exit strategy to get a different car. I did.

Do a video on radiator flushes, verse changing out all the fluid. Use of coolant bleed screws to get air out of the system (many are self air purging now). Water Wetter and other additives that racers use. Fixing radiator leaks with additives?

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I've picked up so much info and have shared with others. Last month, traded my barely-broken-in 2017 Camry for a 2020 Accord Sport 2.0T with a 6-speed manual. Nothing wrong with the Camry, just bored with it. This Accord is so much more fun to drive. I'd been perfectly happy staying home since my recent retirement (as a coach bus operator in the NE) but now I look for excuses to go somewhere! I'm now catching up by watching your videos, interesting, very informative and quite entertaining! THANK YOU!!! Signed up for your new app... 🙂

@@jorgenvonstrangle000 pretty sure it works the opposite. Humidity makes it feel hotter, lack of it makes it feel cooler. When its dry, your sweat evaporates more easily cooling you off better.
