Scotty feels the same way I do about the Ugly Covers. I remember when engines were more like art pieces. When Ferrari would go through the effort to pain the valve covers red and give them a textured look. Now, most engines look like junk which is why they put those ugly covers on.

who cares where the term or phrase came from. nobody owns copyrights to terminology or slang! fun fact- people that refer to being way out on the woods or country sometimes call it the 'boondocks' (atleast in the south) and the slang term boondocks actually came from the Tagalog word 'Bundok' which losely translates to hill, mountain, steep, far away, etc. :)

Love watching your videos. I'm currently working on my car which is a 2004 Tuscani Redline GT V6. I came across this car in El Reno Oklahoma for $900. Anyways the car got hurt last year around August. No body damage or anything like that. Just have to replace dash, steering wheel and I just got new rims so that's off the bucket list of things things. I call the car Fearless. A tribute name to my late best friend and my moms passing (because I got the car just before she passed) NOW the niddy griddy. My car when she starts revs up a little over a 1000rpm sometimes 2000rpms. It takes me having to tap the gas pedal for it to drop. Since I'm from Tuttle Oklahoma we don't really get cold weather. When I go to start her up in the mornings. She fires off but putters just below 1000rpms then I have to slightly hold the gas pedal up to 1000rpms just to keep it from dying. Any ideas on this situation I'm dealing with? Now seeing this video I know now that I need to check my throttle body. I haven't checked sparks yet and I know that the car needs a new E-vap filtration system which will run me around $162-$200 give or take. But any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

A lot of new cars idle higher upon start up I've noticed. I has a 2015 Mazda 2 that did it, my brother's 2017 Mazda 2 does it and my 2018 Honda Fit does it but admittedly, not as high as the Mazdas do. When I had my Mazda I asked at the dealership if that was normal and of course, they said, "yes, it's to help warm the engine up". However, both my brother's Mazda 2 and mine would cut the air conditioner off while waiting at a set of traffic lights which is highly inconvenient in the summer. They said that was normal too and to help save gas. Just another reason I got rid of mine.

Scotty I am surprised you didn't mention that the throttle body should be unplugged before you stick your fingers in there. If you like your fingers that is.

As for refrigerant loss, I'm surprised that cars would leak it so fast ! I had a 2000 Elantra, purchased in 2008. I never added refrigerant, and when I got rid of the car in 2015, the A/C was still working well ! On the other hand, my 2013 Elantra GT had its defective A/C fixed just before I purchased the car in Sept. 2019. I drive the car once a week at least, but only ~1,200 miles a year. I'm in Quebec City (so it's not hot here often). This summer the A/C has started to be DEFECTIVE again ! The air is now INTERMITTENTLY cold, only about 40% of the time ! I assume it's leaking refrigerant ! :-\ I also had a 2007 Ford Focus Wagon, purchased in 2015, and in 2019, the same cold air intermittence started PLUS the engine's fan being on WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD ! :-O

Scotty how often do I need to run my a/c compressor to keep the oil circulating and the seals lubricated. I had the entire system rebuilt to factory specs twice. It is a 1990 Geo Storm with 98k miles.

Modern vehicles are why I love my 1985 Ford Ranger. Basic n simple. 2.0 and 5 spd. So basic it doesn't even have a cigarette lighter, not even the hole for it. Power steering would be nice though.

I got a 2004 nissan quest that I like to work on ... I've had it since 2017 with about 230,00 miles on it. I like it it's very comfortable inside and the outside design is beautiful. Whenever I can I work on it's issues like alternator, o2 sensors and so on. If I could keep it for the rest of my life I would but I know it's asking too much from a vehicle that's almost 20 yrs old. How much longer would it last keeping it's maintenance in check? Should I keep throwing money at it or just realize that it's on its last year's of existence? Work to be done= • shocks and struts • lower control arms • ball joints • engine mounts • New o2 sensor wiring • power steering leak (big one) • replace fan • undercarriage catalytic converter (does not currently have one) • vvt solenoid • transmission starting to kick This van has been my home sometimes.. literally

hey scotty! i got a 2013 scion fr-s, 6 speed manual 91k miles. it idles as it should on cold start at about 1500 rpm for 45 seconds or so then goes down in rpm. but as soon as it hits 1100, it just cuts out and dies, u have to give it gas to keep it alive. what could be the issue? fuel system checks out and same with the mass airflow sensor data

Our 2001 Camry had great air-conditioning. Sold it in 2018 and it had NEVER had any maintenance on the AC. For that matter, it'd had very little maintenance of any kind except oil changes, etc.

Scotty I just bought my first car at 16 and have oil leaking into a cylinder and the shop said I need a new engine. Do you think it could be a valve cover gasket because it has a misfire in one cylinder where oil is getting

Here’s an interesting for one for you Scotty, I drive with cruise control on a lot on the highway in the problem I’m having is when it goes uphill it seems to lose vacuum because the air conditioning goes off or the vents close and then when I get back up there if I step on the gas or I increase the speed then the vents will open again so I’m believing it’s a vacuum problem I’ve checked all the hoses and they’re all good I’ve use my little vacuum gauge on them and I’ll get 15 pounds of a vacuum from the engine and that should be plenty but that’s the problem as I go upI heal I lose vacuum and the AC cuts out so what do you think is causing that problem?
