I would be happy to find a decent Papio on Oahu. After a lot of offshore trolling I have started shore fishing and I must say landing a big fish from the shore is a lot harder than trolling in deep water. All night alone is hard core.

I'm curios for ulua fishing, do you think the penn carnage 3 ulua heavy surf rod paired to penn 114h2LW or 115L2 would be good setup. I always see Hawaian Fisherman fishing off areas where there are cliffs. Are there beaches that are flat to the ocean, that you fish. With the set up I have mentioned, how far do you think you could cast out 8oz. What would you suggest for second rod if throwing lures. What pole and reel are you using in this video.

honestly, sometimes i do and sometimes i don't. it just seemed like the skin was kinda thick and i didn't want that skin to get "waterlogged" and end up choking the hook. hope that makes sense.

tjanks. my truck isn't really that high. reels are 6/0 and 9/0. i don't usually cast. with 6/0's i can get lead out 50-75 yards at best. smaller reels i can hit 100 yards.

@@jensenkona I've been watching Aloha videos for a while now I have 2 14 ft meathunter heavy action RDS , one has a 4/0 senator and one has a shimano TLD 25 I'm trying to copy those alua poles you guys have there , Its kinda funny , Because I live in Ill and fish for Big catfish in the Mississippi River . like you I'm prepared for the big one. Each set-up cost me about $300.00 how much are your aloha rods without the reels
