I’m guessing by now y’all know just how strange the KZfaq algorithms can be in serving up what shows up on your “hey, maybe check this out” list, but I’ve just stumbled across the numerous reaction videos to this legendary performance of Bobby’s. What it find most amazing is that, IIRC, this was a segment of a live variety show hosted by a pretty decent singer in his own right, Andy Williams. As a 70+yo boomer, these type of shows - Ed Sullivan, Smothers Brothers, etc, were the fodder that were the gateway drug to my lifelong addiction to great musical performances in a wide range of genres. At the risk of crassness, this particular performance by Bobby must have left few dry eyes - and other areas of the females in the live studio audience. As many have said, in 1965 there was no technology for audio trickery that is now essentially taken for granted, and “live” meant just exactly that. There’s a reason that Bobby and Billy were bestowed the moniker of “Righteous Brothers” edit; and as I think the saying goes; hard to forget your first time

There actually were some enhancements ... like his breath control, falsetto, substain, vibrato, etc. Hehe, just goofing around, lol Yes, it's ALL natural, NO enhancements, NO after-effects, just a incredibly talented man & a simple microphone. It is actually sad that things like autotune were ever created. Using it or any after-effects is "Cheating" in my opinion. FYI, Autotune was invited in 1997, but wasn't used much at all, almost never until around 2010'-ish. So if a performance was pre 1997 You can be assured there were NO autotune or after-effect cheats used. And if a song was preformed or recorded 1997-2010-ish it was very rarely used.

This song, Unchained Melody, was written about a man in prison who missed his lover and wondered whether she would still be his by the time he was released from prison. So it’s full of desperate longing and other strong emotions. One of the things that makes this performance even more insanely good is the fact that Bobby Hatfield’s parents were in the audience and he was concerned about singing such a passionate song in front of the them. Bobby was such an incredible singer that there was no way he would do anything other than give it his all. I was a very little girl when my family watched this episode of the Andy Williams show. Thanks for doing this reaction!

"You'll Never Walk ALONE" is a live TV video from the Ed Sullivan Variety Hour, To hear solos of Bobby Hatfield singing, try "Summertime" and the records of "Ebb Tide", "Stay In My Corner". Bill Medley appears solo with the Blossoms singing backing vocals on his song "Brown Eyed Woman" on the TV show Playboy After Dark. Their early R&B/kinda doo wop songs on their Moonglow record album are plain soulful and some of their favorite kind of songs to sing. Lots of black n white videos of them from the Shindig TV show where they were regulars on for 2 yrs, I subscribed to your channel.

Everything you say is true. The underlying theme here is a longing for his woman, who he "loves, honors and cherishes". These timeless spiritual qualities are what men commit to uphold for a lifetime in an oath before friends and God Almighty! I believe that God made women to need this kind of cherished, honorable love in order to thrive, and when they hear such a rare song sung so masterfully, they react positively with their own longing. This spiritual theme is timeless. Sings with timeless truths as their message will last through the generations. Thank you, Bobby zHatfield, for giving voice to what so many "real" men feel about their wives and women. It is a tragedy that we are conditioned by this corrupted world to render us incapable of expressing what so many of us feel in our hearts. Rest in God's peace Mr. Hatfield. You must know how happy you still make women feel when they hear this song of longing and of love!❤

It's so good to see the interplay between them at the start of the video. I love to see that kind of interaction. All the big bands have more than one star, and how they manage the egos is a key part of their success. They were both the righteous brothers in that both of them truly had incredible voices although in completely different ranges. Honestly they both had amazing voices. Bill and Bobby were equally talented, but this is probably their song that had the biggest public impact.

Hahaha - look at it this way - because there are so many thousands of great songs from before you were even born, let alone since, you have all of them to look forward to hearing. Us older folks can live vicariously through you hearing them for the first time.

Real instruments , no computers or auto tune or gimmicks. Get the full orchestras back. You're reaction proves it. Bobby Hatfield died at age 63 in 2003 in Kalamazoo MI in his hotel room while touring with Bill. Only 60 minutes from my house. I almost bought tickets to that show but was toon busy. The next morning the it was on the news....I was in shock [I was a music teacher]...I can't imagine how devastated Bill was about his lifelong friend. It is amazing young people like you are discovering the Righteous Brothers and everyone of them is awe of real time live vocals and studio recordings. Little known fact, among other opening acts on the tour, is they opened for the Beatles in summer1964 on their first big American tour. They got a recording contract and had to leave the tour. Bill is still alive....

No Autotune, no high-tech microphone.no studio backgrounds. This was just a guy with a cheap mike and the orchestra while he put it all out there. The amazing thing is that at the very last note, he is not even out of breath.

Such an amazing talent that we are lucky to come across once in a generation. Another once in a generation talent is 16 years old Angelina Jordan from Norway. At the age of 6 and while travelling with her family in another country, she came across a shoeless girl who had a bathroom scale for people to weight themselves on in exchange for some coins. Angelina struck a conversation with that girl and without prompting from anyone in her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. That evening she wrote about that encounter in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind all of us about the many needy children around the world. 3 years later at the age of 9,she wrote and published a book about that encounter making her Norway’s youngest published author. She was interviewed on TV about her book during the week when it was released, but just before the interview she performed a short version of “Unchained Melody”. Here are the links to that interview and her performance. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbaWgN1-yqiwkqM.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8lzf6eKlam3imw.html I would very much appreciate if you react to both of these videos together. She will have a very positive impact on you. Angelina’s fans who she calls her Angels, will flood your channel with subscriptions and comments. Thank you and keep up the good work from a new subscriber.

Magical rendition of this classic sung by the immortal Bobby Hatfield. Covered by hundreds of artists but this is the gold standard. Redone in 1990 for the movie GHOST. I remember when it first came out and millions more get to enjoy this masterpiece live. Sadly Bobby left us in 2003. The Righteous Brothers imo are the greatest duo of all time. Other hits You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling which was the most played song on radio and tv in the 20th Century. Also there big hits Soul and Inspiration and Rock and Roll Heaven. Please give them a listen to. You won’t be disappointed. Thx

Bobby had just married Joy. You can hear every emotion an all his love for her in his voice. Its so sad that the marriage didn't last. But they were probably too immature. But Bobby always put all his emotion and love in every performance his whole career. ( see their performance at the RnR Hall of Fame, when they were inducted in March 2003.) Eight months later, Bobby passed away. Bobby did not just have an amazing voice, being a rare counter- tenor. His love of singing always came through. We miss him. But he left us an amazing legacy of his beautiful music.

Awww....the late Bobby Hatfield! I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. No auto tunes, just pure raw talent. I'm so lucky to grow up listening to these guys sing. Love them both!!! 💕

Thanks for using the whole intro------so many reactors get confused by one singer being "The Righteous Brothers". Move right along to "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" to hear Bobby and Bill sing together. "Soul and Inspiration", then Bill (mostly) alone on "I just Wanna Make Love to You".

Another Righteous Brothers TV performance she should react to, is their 1964 team-up with The Blossoms (an African-American female singing trio) to sing a cover of the Ray Charles hit song, "The Night Time (Is The Right Time)", that was performed on the ABC prime-time Rock music program, "Shindig". Everyone cuts loose, and sing with a lot of soul on that song.
Stay on your way 🛤️✨
