Your mother is right. It will lose charm but mostly because it's prices are going to go too high for a middle class person to afford it and thus, people will start investing in it in either smaller quantities or 18k or so. Gold in itself will not lose value. It will gain with time. But everything can just be the opposite as well.

I also think it will go down. If everyone is paying the prices rise and if no one is interested in gold , taking gold from mines will be useless.... Petroleum products ke baad kuch hai wo gold hi hoga Jo Indians import karte hai 😂
