@@evanhunt1374 There are about 5 companies that control all media. The same can be said about Amazon and Walmart. These 2 companies dominate the consumers industry but because they compete with each other they arnt consider monopolies. It's the same with agriculture and energy. @@evanhunt1374 There is nothing BUT precedent for that. Have you heard of Apple? They were saved by monopoly suits against Microsoft. Now apple is essentially a monopoly. Probably half of the technology developed in the 90s and early 2000s only came on the market when Bell South (AT&T) was broken up due to their anticompetitive behavior. Verizon etc.? Most companies currently being charged with anticompetitive practices came about AFTER and as a direct result of a PREVIOUS corporation being broken up due to anti competitive practices

Thank God. This is awful. 2 tickets to Imagine Dragons in a less than great venue is $900.00. In Dallas. Come on. I remember in 1990, 5 of us gals slept inline outside Ticketmaster over night in crappy part of Dallas to get tickets to Madonna. Then 10 min before it opened, a sleu of trucks with 10s of homeless people were dumped off in the line with us. Then Ticket Disaster made us take lottery numbers to renumber the cue. So guess who got numbers 1-20 in the cue and bought the floor and all good seats? Tickmaster and LiveNation are the Mafia scalpers of live events.

I went to many many concerts during the eighties. Prices ranged from $12 to $15 at the time and people could actually afford to see all those shows and really enjoy themselves, free of cell phone illumination and distraction. I know many of you don't agree that cell phones are a distraction but a necessity right now. They are a convenience at the most!

@@Ratboy2004 monopoly works that way. people don't just give up happiness because it's expensive, they will just begrudgingly pay that much for the tickets cause they're told that's the normal price. people do not pick the prices, corporations do, and if they literally have no other option they just simply will. which is why monopoly is illegal. it essentially stops all growth in industries and effects other aspects of the economy. if people are wasting that much money on their happiness, which they will do because American life is depressing, they won't have as much for anything else. people have literally wasted so much money that the government could've squeezed out of them on concert tickets.

Dig a little deeper. She's setting a context that, according to economists, rent is supposed to be your largest single expense and that the "normal" expenditure on rent is supposed to be 1/3 of your income.
