If you need portable solar power, check out the unboxing and test drive we do on this purchase from Amazon. At $410. dollars it seems to be a bargain especially for a 300 watt setup.

This panel can put out close to 100 watts kzfaq.infoUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

i bought 3 of these kits recently. i did rather extensive testing. i found one panel put out about 6% less than the other two. these panels are floppy and hard to lean against stuff, like we saw in this video. again, like all panels the slightest bit of shade will dramaticaly affect your current output, even the cable laying across the panel is a problem, there is a hole you can pass the cable through the back for this purpose. i built an adjustable stand for one 300 kit. i found that the max power i could get in mid march was 13.2v x 17a =220 watts using its included pwm controller perfect sun, perfect angle and about 40 degrees fahrenheit outside . i connected it to mppt and only saw it increase to 225 watts. i think the amps is too high for the little wires they included. if they would have wired it for series of say 84ocv and 66v x 4.5a =297 watts, they could have included a cheap mppt controller and let us use much longer wires, so the controller and battery could be inside house/garage/vehicle/rv and the panel could be out in the sun it would have made this a much better system. 17 amps is a problem, unless you buy 10 awg uv rated wires, which would add to the total cost. anyways due to them not being 300 watts i returned 2 of the 3 kits, plus all three kits i bought were supposed to be new and they were all used, apparently a lot of people return these kits. they are kinda useful despite every thing i have said. these would be good for emergencies, camping, also you can buy several and use all the charge controllers connected to the same battery/bank. as long as your battery/bank can handle that much current

i bought the 200 watt version of this a couple months ago for camping and as a off grid battery charger. It has 2 less rows of cells than this 300 watt The 200 watt version puts out 8-11 amps in good sun. the controller is a cheap PWM similar to many $10 eBay controllers but it works and does not need to be hooked to a battery to charge a phone via USB. As some of the other reviews out there have said the stitching isn't the best and the pocket that stores the controller and wires has already needed repair and it likes to fold up in the wind and some of the eyes to hold it have torn off from trying to secure with bungie cords in the wind. I paid $230 usd for it and it does the job as well as I expected and I am satisfied with it for the price.

Hi, i know this vid is many years old, the reason it's not charging is because you put your battery into series. so now you have a 24volt battery. Your solar only output around 18volts (21v based on your video). In order to for this to work, you should put your battery in parallel then it can take the power from your solar. you can get another solar panel and connect it in series so this time you can get 36 volts of solar power. but you'll need a much higher cap solar charge controller or better yet an mppt

As 3dmixer says, the controller isn't a PWM, its just and on/off switch based on voltage. Replace it with a good MPPT like Victron and the panel will produce full power, well mine does though its the 110w version.

Max out put can be computed from panel size. What does each panel measure in size length and width? 1000 watts per SQ meter max from sun x efficiency of panel which should be .1 (old) to .21 (new deep black panels) x area of each panel = highest wattage you can expect.

is it solar panel to controler then controler to battery Can solar panel directly connected battery? Connecting the solar panels directly to a bank of batteries may work, but is not a good idea. A standard 12 volt solar panel which can be used to recharge a battery, could actually be putting out nearly 20 volts at full sun, much more voltage than the battery needs.
@ilixradix
@ilixradix 3 жыл бұрын
Without a diode you will burn the panel. In a non cloudy day you will burn the battery (21V). It' a bad idea to connect the panel directly to the battery.
@jasonbrown467
@jasonbrown467 3 жыл бұрын
it comes with the controller. you should not charge a 12 volt battery at 21 volts, you charge a battery with regulated voltage and variable amperage. i charge my batts at 14.4 volts and what ever amps i can get within reason. i have seen a video where a guy connected his panel to a voltage step up device that took the 35 volts 10 amps 350watts and converted it to 120 volts about 2-3 amps and ran some power tools. it was more of a proof of concept. also the converter robbed him of about 10% of his watts to do the conversion and when a cloud passed by the sun the watts dropped considerably. i think everyone should view the battery as a bucket of water and the solar panel and charge controller as a steady drip or stream of water into the bucket, then you can bank the energy all day and hopefully have some to use at night.

data provided on the controller is good but the biggest problem I had with the units is the squishy feel of the buttons. They don't seem to make positive contact when you push them and you end up pushing multiple times and that seems to confuse the unit and you miss the data you were looking for. So far a good solar setup but the buttons are poor quality.
