That's what a virtual surround effect does. A good pair of stereo headphones don't need a virtual surround, infact will make them sound worse if used.

This is a remarkably terrible way of testing headphones or earphones quality. This only gives you information about how "wide" they sound in atmos content. No idea what made this you "go-to". :P You must have 0 idea how youtube audio works.

@@mehmeh_ Nothing on youtube. If you have a proper media player (anything made in the last 5 years), get loss-less files of your favorite songs (as uncompressed as you can find them) and listen. That will give you a much better idea of fidelity, and will have less digital artifacting to see if its your speakers with that weird quirk or the excessive down sampling of youtube audio.

I have a set of Harmon Kardon Soundsticks II and this demo works great with them. I didn't think they would because it's just two speakers and a subwoofer but it sounded like I had more speakers. This technology is awesome!

@@GrayDaDolf yes, and dolby surround isnt changing that. its STILL only two speakers, just with different sound processing . the best pair of surround ive heard ever was the g35. it sounded the most surround without sounding echoy to me like most if not all "surround" applications and headsets do today.

Not really. Dolby Atmos, like ambisonics, works in a completely different way. Panning stereo and adding reverb does not stop it still being just two channel. Dolby Atmos starts with 7.1.4 - That is 12 speakers. But because of the way it works, it can be translated into any number of speakers, and even be decoded into a binaural type signal (for headphones). Look it up.

For everyone who doesn't quite understand, Dolby Atmos uses a stereo signal and applies software processing to that to create a virtual "7.1" experience. There's no special hardware requirements. It's just some really good virtualization software. Excellent for gaming

It's unfortunate that most people don't understand the point of this video. Dolby Atmos is a sound process that is built from the ground up for SCALABILITY. In other words, it is specifically designed to work well in almost any speaker configuration including Stereo. Yes, you can do this with Stereo Panning. But the problem is that even if they could upload it, not many people have 7.1 surround systems hooked up to their pc. So it would almost be a waste of time to assume that people have such a thing. Any pair of headphones can play this, but when you have a great pair, it's a much more "full" experience. 7 speakers surrounding you with a dedicated subwoofer will ALWAYS be better than a pair of headphones, no way around it. It's exactly the same as comparing a real Cinema with your 7.1 system at home. Dolby Cinemas have 10 channels, but they have anywhere between 20-50+ speakers producing the sound. The computer in the cinema has a layout of every speaker and uses that to greatly improve the sound replication of the movie.

I recently got the Note 20 Ultra and finally tinkered around with the settings in the main notification bar menu today. The sound with this device is INCREDIBLE!! So impressed with the Galaxy series, especially Note. They keep getting better and better!! Even just the sound without headphones with just Atmos turned on is amazing.

They demonstrated normal stereo, because your earphones are just stereo. For Atmos you need surround sound system with additional speakers ABOVE you.

@@sevencolours5014 kinda right but wrong at the same time.. Dolby Atmos is scalable meaning whether you have 2 channels or 70+ channels it is able to make use of object based sound rendering. Apple shows this off pretty well when using spatial audio in movies with headphones…. You can hear sound 100 percent around you and above you almost as if in a theater but it’s “crispness” factor isn’t as good as a hifi surround system. In other words headphones can be a very good way to enjoy Dolby Atmos but need to be properly decoded (unlike KZfaq here) and the device needs to know what to do with the sound when confined to 2 channels.

@@sevencolours5014 I tend to disagree, take a look at apples “spatial audio” tech… go watch a movie with dolby atoms and come back to me… you’ll see what I’m talking about. Right now implementation is the problem, it takes a lot of audio processing power to down scale multichannel audio into headphones and then make audio placement make “logical” sense. I’m not saying that speakers are some how “worse” but some headphone implementations can give full speaker systems a true run for their money…. And this is what Dolby atoms was intended for, to be a scalable audio platform that works amazingly with headphones or simply incredibly for people willing to shell out the money for a dedicated system.

Having Dolby Atmos with Headphones is the best decision they ever did. Like listening with an Atmos theater experience, this also changes the way I using my headphones/earphones forever. And I LOVE it so much with a passion!

Make sure to turn it off with good headphones though because it destroys the natural soundstage with software gimmicks and greatly effects sound quality
