Dollar is a Malayalam film, directed by Raju Joseph. The film stars Mukesh, Thilakan, Baiju and Maathu in the lead roles. Dollar is a Malayalam movie that took place in queens, New York and in India. Movie tells you how American malayalees culture their children and dramas that a family goes through. The desire to earn in dollars drives many natives from their land and families. When an old woman moves to New York to be with her children, she is shaken by their lifestyle and perspectives.

പണ്ട് അപ്പുറത്ത് വീട്ടിലെ ടിവിയിൽ കണ്ടത് ഓർമ്മയുണ്ട്.പക്ഷേ ഈ സിനിമയുടെ പേര് അറിയാത്തത് കൊണ്ട് ഇത് കാണാൻ വൈകി ഒരുപാട് തപ്പിയാണ് ഇവിടെ വരെ വന്നത്

അതു സുഹൃത്തിന്റെ മാത്രമല്ല പലരുടെയും അവസ്‌ഥ അങ്ങനെ ആണ്സുഹൃത്തേ .. പണ്ട് ഒരുപാട് സിനിമകൾ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.. എന്നാൽ അതിന്റെയൊക്കെ പേരുകൾ അറിയുകയില്ലഅല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഓർമ്മയില്ല

Not sure if American malayalees, but I grew up in Australia. Most of my peers in well to do professions, married to Indians and have own houses etc. Both husbands and wifes work and share house duties. Few married to white or other people. Maybe 1 in 100 druggie, or living relationships etc. But if the parents have good relation and kids have peace in house, they don't stray away like this movie show. In fact indian immigrants do well compared to white people.

Story lines are good. Things that had been happening here. It would have been better if the kids did not fall victim of peer pressure and became addicted to alcohol, drugs and sex. A lot of malayalee kids fell victim to addiction and family ties and values are ruined.

This is not an accurate representation of America. Those who are born and raised in India are not "saints." ABCD's in the U.S are properly raised by parents with Indian values and are not corrupt as seen in this movie. The guy and girl in this movie behaved like "pathetic wannabe Americans" that are responsible for their own actions. Their behavior is not soley to blame for being in America. Their parents did not discipline them and gave unecessary freedom. Even if they were in India and surrounded themselves with the wrong people...the same circumstances would have happened.

CrazyMallu Gurl This film was made in early 90's. Movies then captured the general perception of things of film viewers. Besides I guess the film makers tried to show difference in opinion among generations and difference in lifestyle in Kerala and US. But yes those two kids getting all messed up in life is more coz of their parents than being at US, which film makers failed to show.

At 2:01:00 when lalu alex entered the black dude's house it was a red color brick styled white painted door , at 2:02:00 when they come out its a wooden color door with white and green painted walls. Again at 2:03:00 when his daughter re-enters the house it's a red bricked white painted door Americanised house. Lol 😂😂😂

I have been living in the USA for the last 22 years. We celebrate Onam Vishu Christmas thanksgiving Deepavali New year everything more than people in india. Potlucks and traditional dressing and get togethers are common here. Pinne last scene-il when police arrives, medical team and fire engine also comes along with them in the case of an emergency and take the hurt victim to the hospital. Maybe in the 80’s people would have come in a visitor visa and then stayed here and did small jobs but now almost everyone comes here in IT job industry. Just telling. Kure scenes are nostalgic. In the 2000’s indian culture was very less but now there are sooo many Indians !
