Let’s do the maths If your a trader and you bought a product @ 100# and wanted to sell @120# but discovered the dollar has affected the initial cost to 150#, will you sell at loss and manufacture 30# to make up for it. Then what’s the point of selling if you will be selling at loss, the problem has always been from above, leave the traders out of this. And disclaimer I’m not a trader but put yourself in their shoes. I still love you bro ❤

The government needs to implement a law will regulate the priceses in Nigeria and also penalty for traders that fails to complies, that's what big countries do like the United States

They have to Increase price despite having old stock, because even though they got old stock with old price, going back to the market to restock they will have to pay with the new price. So if they sell with the old stock price they can't go to the market and restock... But last last i understand you we are making things worse

As long as government does not regulate the informal sector in Nigeria we shouldn't be surprise if prices remain the same in spite of the Dollar losing its value .

Hmmm. Last week as I was coming back from work I got to a traffick where there was no traffic warden available at the time. The whole place was in chaos and disarray. Every driver wants to beat the traffic at the same time. Every vehicle wan pass..of course this resulted to commotion and unnecessary hold up for hours. Why am I narrating this? You see...Nigerians are naturally obedient when law faces them that's why Nigerians abroad don't need to be reminded to obey traffic laws even when they are the only ones at the traffic. Tinubu problem be say he needs to do things differently unlike Buhari. Create and enforce laws. Create bodies/ministries to tackle irresponsible behaviours...shikena...forget we are operating a capitalistic economy. Jail Traders and market people who are misbehaving.....set examples and people go behave

Save, I dey blame government bc we have FG Agency incharge of pricing system in Nigeria. They're supposed to be enforcing the amount things are supposed to be sold in Nigeria. But where is the Agency? Look Well, She is waiting for allocation.

lol another blonder...you can not enforce prices ..in capitalist Economy..moreso in an economy like nigeria with almost zero prodution. Mr man you can not count 5 befor 1.. how to you enforce or force me to sell my good at a particular price. i buy bag of garri for 25k to day next week i go to buy its now 35K and you send people to market to force me to sell at my Old price.. you guys always leave the main thing and focus on things that re not the problem

I think what we need in regulation. If you leave humans they'll do whatever to their gain same in developed countries. But the difference between them and us is they are agencies who regulate price. So it again boils down to regulatory agencies. what are they doing? Don't blame the selers if they are regulated they would. E.g in the western world if you buy at exurbitant rate you can report and they'll be fined and you'll be compensated. But who are you going to report to here?, that's it.

What if a trader honestly re-stocked when exchange rate was high ..... Should same reduce the price now that there's a slight reduction on the exchange rate ? That trader will certainly be running at lost ..... truth be told.

Let me share my little opinion. When you have old goods and increase due to the dollar rate, this is done because of the purchasing power to buy new sets. Now this doesn't mean you have to over do. Now for goods bought during hard times, you may not sell at the proposed profit margin. You can reduce since you will get the goods now at a cheaper rate. The main thing is we should not inconvenience ourselves because we want to be rich overnight. Our major issue in Nigeria is greed

It's not wickedness. No one trusts the current rise of the Naira. Reducing the price of your goods may lead to great losses if the Naira falls again. It's not a risk worth taking.

But they can sell expensive when the prices comes up and they bought in cheap price I understand they have to profit but everything has moderation now that they bought things expensive and still in stocks if they want to refill it will be cheaper they should reduce the only excuse they have is the fact that the exchange rate is fluctuating

Bro, you still don't get it. This issue still boils down to leadership. Who is in charge of price control? We don't even have price control anymore in Nigeria. Therefore traders fix prices themselves. What goes up in Nigeria never comes down and it has been happening, didn't start with dis apc government. Aren't the government suppose to take a drastic action about it? Than just allowing traders fix prices themselves? Think again.

Why we nor talk to your own village people? Lazy people should stop complaining about Igbo people and start taking advantage of high prices if it is easy to do business. The so called "I-go-save" is a clown and I'm not surprised, but why not allow the principles of demand and supply determine the price of goods and services? Lazy people
