What's the best food from the Dollar Tree? What food SHOULDN'T you buy from the Dollar Tree?
The Dollar Tree can be a great place to buy if you're looking to save money - especially when it comes to food. What I've found about the Dollar Tree, however, is not everything is worth it - even for only a dollar. Today, I'm tackling the grocery section of the Dollar Tree and what food I think is and is NOT worth it. I'll be covering Dollar Tree snacks, spices, and candy. I'll also cover is canned goods, cereal, baking supplies, and cooking oil from the Dollar Tree is worth it.

You can find cheaper priced condiments at different stores in different cities. Like for instance SC and NC are extremely cheap in major grocery stores vs dollar tree. You can buy a loaf of bread for like .67 cents. Or a bottle of ketchup for .80 cents. When I lived in SC and GA I always shopper at Kroger for many items and would go to DT for cleaning items that were a bit more expensive at bigger stores.

I love having candy at the movies but they’re sooooo expensive so I always get the boxes from the dollar tree and put them in my pantry and whenever I go to a movie I bring one with me! They’re also better portions so I don’t overeat 👌🏻

Kaitlin Renee I do this as well! As an additional tip, they’re actually $0.98 at Walmart. $0.02 is definitely not worth going to a different store for, but if I’m ever in Walmart, I tend to grab a few boxes.

The big frozen egg rolls are a go-to for me. Plenty of meat in them (of course the top ingredient is cabbage which is as it should be), and they're big and plump. And there's a packet of sweet-and-sour sauce in each one for dipping. Just be sure to bake 'em in your toaster oven because if you microwave they'll be mushy.

Dollar tree's cleaning supplies are okay. I do like the refill bottles for glass cleaner, because it's just 1.00, versus 3 to 4 dollars at other stores. The bleach is okay, it's the non concentrated version, so you'll use a little bit more, than getting it from Walmart or other stores. Things I do buy from their cleaning section are: glass cleaner, cleaning vinegar, furniture polish, oxiclean their version called LAs totally awesome, and sometimes toilet bowl cleaner. A lot of the other cleaners such as stain removers, oven cleaners etc have too many toxic chemicals for me and I cough ALOT when using them. Toiletries are a hit or miss. I can usually find better prices at walmart or buying on sale somewhere else. A lot of their body washes are made in china and are not good for sensitive skin. However, sometimes you'll see actual full sized name brand items that are on closeout at the dollar tree, so get them while they last, because they will disappear fast.

If you find yourself at a dollar tree with a freezer section and are so inclined to partake in the goodies you find there, I recommend 1.) frozen “fried” pickles, 2.) frozen jalapeño poppers, and 3.) Sonic brand freeze pops which come in the skinny plastic tubes, in cherry lime aid & ocean water. None of these are healthy, but I enjoy all 3 about once a month. 🙌🏼

It may be a regional thing, but when I find El Patio tomato sauce I always buy several of them. It is a spicy almost salsa flavored tomato sauce. They have the big tomato sauce size at the Dollar Tree for a dollar versus about $0.89 for the small tomato sauce size at the grocery store. Growing up in Arizona we used a lot of this as a type of hot sauce condiment for taco night.

These videos are so fun. For some reason I never go in the food section at dollar tree. Also I literally have only hear of Aldi from you. Not sure where our nearest one would be, maybe states away. I'm all the way in Washington. I usually get crafty stuff at the dollar tree or toys for my toddler. They change them up sometimes. Also pregnancy tests lol. I always have like 5 because I'm not trying to get pregnant but I'd like to know ASAP if I am. My friend told me it's the same ones her mom's clinic uses on patients. That's how I found out I was pregnant with my son 4 yrs ago. Another thing I got lately is plastic plant pots. They're sturdy and so affordable, they can get so expensive and I have like 6 and counting plants in dollar tree pots. You can always put a basket around it. I made a diy from a boho "rug" at dollar tree and looks super cute and expensive.

I agree with you on everything you showed, if you have a dehydrator, you can dehydrate, onions, garlic, mushrooms, I grow my herbs, so to dehydrate, your getting better quality all around. The condiments, are a great size if you have a travel trailer, I've gotten A-1 steak sauce, Kraft dressing, the big bottles don't fit in the refrigerator, unless you lay them down and it takes up to much space. Gossners Whole milk for camping, or I'm running out of milk, it's a Quart it's more expensive but it's shelf stable and usually you have 10 to 11 month's, on the expectation date just put it in the refrigerator let it get cold I use it in everything.

Some are pretty damn good. I always buy their makeup removal wipes with retinol (30 pack!), I use them quite often after or with a regular eye-makeup removal or even as hand wipes. I saw them last month at a Marshalls listed for $2.99. Also other products like some LA Girl's nail products (I use the 2-in-1 base and top coat) or makeup items are good, but many of them are very trail-and-error, unfortunately. I am a single person who treats myself to junk food once per week. The smaller portions of name brand sugary cereal, candy, chips, etc. are prefect for me. Since I only treat myself once per week, I like to have variety and don’t enjoy having a bunch of excess. I could also see smaller portions coming in handy for vacationing. Personally, I don’t like bringing opened food home that’s been in my hotel for a few days. Something about all that transporting grosses me out, lol.

My local grocery store has sales on pasta that you can get for 88 cents each, and Wegmans carries its own pasta brand for about 79 cents each, sometimes on clearance as low as 49 cents. Great tips, thanks for your very detailed video!

Very impressed with your videos. And I agree with your do buy or do not. I've tried the same items, but as one of your followers stated when it one or two people in the household; sometimes the smaller size doesn't go bad.

I will say the bigger cans of Campbells soup are a good deal. My local walmart the smaller cans are $1.50 so the big cans for $1 is great.

The best thing at Dollar Tree that I make a special trip for, is the frozen Minute Maid Lemonade and Orange Ade. So refreshing! I buy about 10 at a time and keep them in my freezer - better than a popsicle because it takes you longer to eat it!

Hi Lady, love your video and your honesty. I'm always scared to purchase any food items because of their experation date. Can you do one on makeup? If it's good or bad etc.... Thank you❤❤

Sometimes the frozen food section has name brand snacks, like soft pretzel bites or mini pizzas. I heard the frozen bags if berries are good. But the frozen meats are pumped full of salt water and not good

I agree with all your tips! I follow the same rules but today I did find full size lucky charms frosted flake cereal for $1! I think it’s because the store used to be a DT plus but then went back to a regular store. This was a major win as we eat so much cereal but definitely a fluke! Love your videos! Keep em coming!

The snapps potato sticks are the best thing out of the frozen section. When they used to have single serve red baron pizzas those were awesome too.

Personally i think its okay to buy the condiments at the dollar store because when we buy the bigger ones at our local grocery store it stays in our fridge for way to long and it expires and ends up going to waste. So if you know you dont use condiments often i think this is a great place to go!

I actually like getting condiments at the Dollar Tree in smaller size just because I don’t use a lot so even though it’s a better deal elsewhere per oz, for the occasional use, it’s a better deal for me to buy at the Dollar Tree

We don't have an Aldi's in our state, wish we did. A brand new Dollar tree just opened this week a couple of blocks from my home, so taking in how much gas I would use to get to a Walmart (even with gas prices being cheaper now), I think going to the Dollar store is the better deal, plus the time I will save. It just all depends on your personal situation. Congratulations on the new puppy.

The jimmy dean already cooked sausages a great deal. You can get 12 sausages (2 six packs) for $2 and at the grocery store a 12 pack is $3 and up. Also if they have hot pockets those are sometimes cheaper too, two for a dollar at dollar tree or $2.50 at the store. Also the off brand frozen veggies are a great deal there. Chicken broth is another good item to pick up boxed and if you like spam they have their own brand for only $1. Some dollar trees actually sell Libby’s canned vegetables for 79 cents so those are a pretty good deal. Rice is also a good deal too if you don’t want a huge amount. Their Texas Toast is a good deal too. There are lots of dollar tree recipes too that are pretty good.

I miss my Denver Dollar Trees now that I'm in North Dakota oil fields with NO DT. But our favorites were Breckinridge Farms jalapeno slices, Fruit Roll ups, Boboli type pizza crusts, frozen French fries, cashew bags, Kool Aid flavor ices, and the barbeque potato chips.

first time commenter. love your videos. they're my unwind-rabbit hole go-to. here to advocate for the freezer section, specifically the WILD CAUGHT vacuum sealed single portion salmon, cod, tilapia, and shrimp (though maybe 10 small shrimp for $1... maybe eh?). but a wild caught salmon filet for $1 is crazy good. they're delicious & so healthy. also the frozen (blue)berries, and froz stir fry veggies. more recently I've gotten into their turkey bacon too. all the other processed foods are a hard pass, but these health foods items are a steal. Recent snacks that I'm obsessed with: seaweed 3 packs, and multigrain rice cakes

My DT has big family sized boxes of cereal all the time. The selections are, at times, inconsistent. But they have my favorite strawberry yogurt fiber one cereal in the standard size box that I paid $4 at Publix. AND they aren’t close to expiring

Healthy Choice soup I like. They used to carry chicken noodle which I mixed with a can of Swanson chicken and dumplings. It was like stew. Name brand condiments in small jars are fine for me. Full size bottles get tossed still half full.
