Wow! If it wasn’t for videos from Marvin Price and Demaridge, Trin T. I would not have known or would been interested enough to share HBCU dance. Marvin gave these ladies more exposure than SU Media did. His quality of work speaks for itself. Frankly, their footage is the reason I have been obsessed with HBCU the last 6 months. I am so proud of the dancers and the musicians. I want to know more about the dancers and share this at work. I truly became a fan of Danielle Stamper, Janae Harrington, Kayla, cannot believe the disrespect and lack of gratitude Açaí is showing.

Am I the only one that low key finds her theatrics entertaining? I understand being aggressive to some degree to protect the girls from crazed stalkers . But her actions toward ESTABLISHED videographers is extreme to me. They helped bring the Dolls brand to Millions of people via KZfaq.

Akai is a bit much but honestly SU media been actin a fool before they got there. She just doing their dirty work and empowering them to do so. They are clearly jealous of the videographers and it shows in the worst way. The other videographers need to simply stop recording the Dolls and SU as whole and let’s see how much footage we get from just SU media team them since they wanna be so nasty.

Wow. This is ridiculous! Actually I never watched the Dolls video until I discovered Marvin Price's recordings. He took my admiration of the Dolls to another level. As someone who lives in another state and not able to attend games, I appreciate the different video recordings that I see on KZfaq. What I don't appreciate is the band staff that is ALWAYS in the way. I have always thought it was intentional and now I know that it is.

He has been recording the dolls before she even became the sponsor I think he was recording before D'tara. So she needs to have respect for people who literally put the dolls on the map if it was not for Price or Trin.t the dolls would not be where they are now.

Trust me, there are those who have been followers of the dolls like myself for 35 years that are not a fan of her disposition. Marvin is well respected by the alumni and in fact we prefer his vids of the dolls over most others. I cant say its all Akai. If u look back to the very 1st crankfest between SU and JSU in New Orleans. They Moved Marvin all the way to the stands. This has been a slow and methodical process that a lot of people don't agree with. #wearewatching

Now for the sponsor to be acting a foo is absolutely ridiculous. She is getting FREE media coverage. Now my question is what would happen if every videographer took a sabbatical away from the dancing dolls. The notoriety they are getting through media is priceless. I think one year away from all media with the dolls would teach their sponsor a valuable less. You cant be FABULOUS if no one is watching you. She would then be paying people to cover the girls, wonder how she would like that. Whats even worse when you reputation is dead people forget about you.

I'm glad that young man stood his ground. Akai clearly has anger management problems, it's written all over her face .... I was wondering why she was single when she looks so beautiful. She was also caught scolding the girls in the middle of a stand performance ... which could've waited ... she won't be there long. Akai is an overzealous sponsor that rejected my Instagram request. When you're leading such a beloved organization such as the SU Fabulous Dancing Dolls, fans are gonna wanna follow you ... if you're not ready for the spotlight then you shouldn't be a sponsor. D'Tara page is open and is very accommodating to fans/videographers ... she can learn a thing or two from her. Clearly her title and power has gone to her head because honestly her title is a big deal.

That was Killa Kev who now has over 100K subscribers. That means you're hurting your exposure. Lot of his subscribers are in the midwest and other areas. Our HBCUS are doing a lot to hurt their own brands. It's enough for everyone. Need to stop the crab in a barrel affect.

I love that Akai takes her job seriously. She is like a lioness protecting her cubs but regardless it’s a certain way to speak to people with respect without being so abrasive.

We live in an age of media and they don’t want coverage 🤔. They need to stop... we all have videographer’s we prefer over their in-house media. They going to mess around and lose coverage 🤦🏽‍♂️

Thank you so much for sharing this story. What they need to do is get all the videographers some media passes with photo ID and beef up security around the entrances where this footage is to be shot. Other than that they have no right to try to hinder these media outlets from recording footage. It's really getting out of hand.

I see that she is very protective over her dolls, but i agree when you said that she needs to tone it down some.

Southern's advisor is horrible. She was so mean and disrespectful to my friend in Memphis. He wanted a picture for his patient at St. Jude. He was so hurt and embarrassed. Southern can do better. The J-Settes came and where so nice and friendly. I lost a lot of respect for their brand.

What made the clip of 4:23 worse was the two behind her were some of the hosts of Crankfest. I agree with some previous comments that she really wants to stop the ppl that are recording for bad reasons. But a media pass should weed out the "intruders". I think shes kind of stuck between two sides.

Wow, this is really crazy considering that TrinT's Can you stand the rain K. Pittman video has 3.8 million views... and perhaps.. THAT is the issue. Ad Revenue... YES when you follow the money you can always see the motivations behind certain moves. ....I believe that TrinT's video really got more "mainstream" views than us regular HBCU watchers.. that and the Bring IT TV show gave all the teams but specifically the Dolls more views. People would put in "Dancing Dolls" and their videos would pop up when others were trying to follow the show and didn't know better. They watched a couple videos and became fans. So... For various reasons other videographers did more to expose the world to the SU Dolls than anything the SU media team had ever done.

This is ridiculous. I noticed Micha in video was looking at the sponsor like girl what you doing. She really needs to get a damn life. This guy has been doing an amazing job. I love the Dolls just like other people. But this is turning people off big time.

The media is what have people anxious to actually go to the games to see these dancers perform live. For those who can't go to the games they go online to view these teams as soon as their available. If one of the popular videographers don't upload them as soon as we like we usually look at amateur videos until they do. To this day, the SU media team videos have not been recommended in my KZfaq newsfeed 🤷🏽‍♀️

I first started watching the dolls on Marvin price channel and then the jukebox media page. I noticed that Garrett would sometimes stand in front of mar in to block his footage. I stopped watching Garrett and only supported Marvin. Then Garrett tried to.have showtimeweb banned from recording southern shows. They had a big showdown on the rogerbros live video. Garrett even told show times real name and what state he lived in. Many brainwashed southern supporter stopped watching Showtimeweb videos after that. They only want Garrett to record so he can edit out mistakes on the field and in the stands. Just look at the show from homecoming. He edited that show look look perfect and it was a mess. I really don't even pay the dolls any attention anymore.

Southern's media team SUCKS at filming the Dolls. Hey Jukebox Media, here's a novel idea... why don't you just stick to filming THE BAND... fulfill the requests of the band heads who complain about the lack of actual band footage and let Dr. Price TV, Killa Kev, Trin.T and the others film the Dolls. I see so many comments from people who don't want to see the Dolls in their precious band footage, so GO PLEASE THEM Jukebox Media!! Let these guys find their niche with the Dolls... and let them reap the benefits (which ain't that much, KZfaq monetization is far from what it used to be). As far as Akai is concerned... she's horrible, PERIOD. She oozes evil pitbull from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. If it wasn’t for these videographers recording for FREE, going to the games for FREE, traveling for FREE, many people wouldn’t know about the SU dolls and there wouldn’t be any claim to fame. No shade to a lot of the HBCU’s but the main teams mentioned are Stingettes, Dolls, J-settes and it’s so SO many more teams. 14Karat gold was slaying on the field from 2002-2010 on the field. Motion has some pretty strong field shows (in the past), Bubbling Brown Sugar doesn’t exist (or if they do, they don’t have the essence of 2000). In 2009, I barely saw videos of the dolls in the stands and those weren’t strong years. D’Tara was taking over and reestablishing the dolls presence in the stands. Now I see comments in regards to safety and some guy recording a dolls private areas without consent, if that’s true, I understand where she’s coming from but that’s where judgment and professionalism comes in. How about, you ask security to handle these affairs and the security/police you use, need to obtain clearance passes PRIOR to a show starting. Like why is this not known. Back when Honda BOTB started, I was one of the few (under 20) people on the field the entire show and I had a pass. Why is that something not done 14 years later? Anwho, I can get off topic quick, let the videographers continue to provide “full free promotion” (in my Khia voice) and provide exposure for these young ladies so Beyonce can use their moves in a future project, They perform at the Super Bowl again, and the band can prosper and showcase black excellence like they’ve displayed on NBC so many years? Maybe BET will start back showing college games and halftime shows So Akai, humble yourself before God humbles you. I promise you want the first option

It’s not necessary! Everyone has a part to play in making the experience a good one! All we need is one person to stir up some ISH! It’s great that Akai cares about the Dolls privacy, wellbeing, etc but there is a way to do things, we know Akai is a strong black proud woman but the power may have gotten into her head a little, she needs to humble herself a bit. Just my opinion from what I’ve seen.

The band directors should only let the people who are well known record the dolls if it is such a issue. They shouldn’t be doing Marvin like that because he gives good content and if he is going to get bad angles all the time then that defeats the purpose of him recording. Just let the man do what he has been doing for years. If they let Trin t. get up close then Marvin should be able to do the same.

Yeah that video of them at the battle was a bit much. He must have breathed on her neck or something because she responded like he was in her way or something. Like tf, you are watching the dolls with your back turned. I believe that she was just into her feelings that many people are interested in making videos of the dolls and are able to get so many views and possibly money and when she was a doll it may not have been the case for her. Nevertheless, we can only make assumptions because she didn't release a statement to explain her behavior.

This stuff has become a circus man. Back in the day the only way you could see the bands was going to the game or getting it on VHS from someone. I respect everyone and what they do. We have become so spoiled by theses media teams man that it has made folks really show there true colors. Some folks say any and everything about theses students man. That’s someone’s daughter or sister and folks could care less about any of that. I appreciate the content the university media team puts out. I also think if more fans would get out to the games man the support for some of our HBCUs would be a lot better.

Southern's football field is not public property. It is the property of Southern University. The Dancing Dolls are a university dance line, not a media spectacle. They've been performing since before anyone was on the field with a video camera. If the sponsor tells people to move back, they need to move back.

Akai is doing a great job and she also wants to protect the girls for MANY reasons! Also everyone knows how popular the Human Jukebox is, so you can’t really get mad at them for pushing people away that records the band and the dolls. Their media team is PAID to film the Jukebox! A lot of these media people want clout off of Southern when they should be the ones getting clout off of their own brand! Southern should tighten up on letting people film the band and the dolls.

Well maybe they all need to sit down and have a discussion so everyone is on the same page. All these media outlets making money off these girls and the band. The students get nothing. It's a two-way street. The Dolls been popular, get your facts straight. The Human Jukebox even moreso. I like how she protects the girls because too many people are all in their personal space. The Dolls are a phenomenal team but everyone doesn’t know about them. It is a conflict of interest at this point because ppl are making money by posting and views on KZfaq. The band has their own media which should bring them revenue also. Their media team needs to be compensated and have access first. If you are in their way you have to move. Safety is key also. It be too many people on the field.
