My old man used to have this playing in his R model Mack truck in the 70s doing long haul state to state he used to take me and my brother with him because he was single dad when mum left us this song always reminds me of those years living on the road it was different time lifestyle . It broke him when our mum met someone else but he tried his best these Freddy Fender songs love them despite the memories

I recently went to his hometown San Benito, Texas. They painted his picture on top of this water tower and it had Freddy's signature on it. Dedicated to Freddy. Beautiful, just plain beautiful.

Glad you DISCOVERED HIM! He was ALWAYS COOL. We didn't listen to Tex Mex til Freddie Fender came onto the scene, and then everyone listened to him. All the parties, all the clubs, and people were every color. Glad your hearing with new ears.

I'm going to McAllen for my dad's 90th birthday, I'm taking my guitar and am going to play some songs, Elvis, Las Mananitas and Freddy Fender "Before the Next Teardrop Falls," and a few more classic oldies from the 60's. I can't wait, June 8th. I think we're renting a park but not sure which one. I'd like to go to San Benito and sing a song there somewhere. Maybe like downtown, I want my sister to take a video. I grew up in Freddy Fender's hometown. My gramother is related to him, and my band got to share the stage with him and The Texas Tornadoes. I remember when he used to come over to my grandmother's house growing up. I still write music, but nothing like back home. It's in the our blood. My uncles used to jam with him during his rockabilly days.

he used to live near my grandma in corpus, and i seen the texas tornadoes play a couple times at the stardust ballroom when i worked there... another cool sotry is when i worked at flour bluff wal-mart , we always had part timers who were from out of town and in the navy working electronics, and freddy would often come in ask the part timer where he could find the texas tornadoes cd (having no clue who he was) and the person take him to the cd and then freddy would show the cd and say "recognize this guy" after a laugh or 2 he would buy the cd then autograph it and give it to the associate

I used to play drums with Freddie back in the early 70's he used to run a bar in Monte Alto, TX. I wasn't part of his band I would help a band that used to be a back up for him. back then he used to play tejano (tex-mex) music
