Dolomites - the scariest Crash! (FPV Freestyle)

5 жыл бұрынThis crash due to loss of video was by far the scariest one I had so far. I was full throttling for ages hoping to get it back but it didn´t work. I just throttled straight into the ground:D The lipo ejected and I had no gps and stuff so we searched for hours but recovered it.
The location was an absolute blast to fly. It is in the dolomites in italy.

Tip for video loss: Configure a switch to enable Angle/Horizon Mode. When you loose the camera feed, INSTANTLY hit the switch and throttle up. The drone will stabilize and rise, which usually brings it back above obstacles that are blocking your signal. This has saved me so countless crashes. Worst case you can still throttle down and do a "cushioned" landing (instead of throttle upside down into the ground).

Yep... an emergency button with a red flashing light would be even faster while you are doing hardcore acro... unfortunately in Liftoff you can't flip flop between Acro and Horizon becaue it cycles through Acro, Level, Horizon,and 3D... in that order I think. I fly mostly Acro but for Camera work Horizon is pretty nice. Do all flight controllers have GPS and the various modes? Probably not... some may not have gps at all and therefore no gps stabilized modes. My GPS quad though when it hits a tower and starts tumbling, it will flip back over like a cat instantly wihin 10 feet or less... saved me plenty...

@@choppergirl there are no flight controllers with gps, its a simple and cheap module that you have to add. It's a must if you do long range: you can configure RTH (return to home) or put the gpd data in the video feed or send it back via telemetry, and yes, all the controllers do all the flying modes, its just a firmware config

@@jordigrau83 - Thanks for the info update. Yeah, RTH is da bomb when you totally lose video and/or line of sight. I have a Remzibi OSD to put GPS data on the screen, but I'm not sure if it has a data line out to send any gps data to a flight controller. I'd have to check. Probably not. But yeah, thanks for the info, that's what I needed to know, the GPS board is not in the flight controllers, but is an add on you buy seperately and run a wire to the flight controller... cg.air-war.org

This for me is what fpv is all about, the closest thing to proximity wing suit flying, without throwing yourself off a mountain! What about a team up with a wing suit flyer and quad at the same time?

That’s exactly how I felt riding down the mountain in the end of the video:D Following a real wingsuit flyer would be to dangerous for my taste. Imagine you I would just need to give him a little slap and it would be game over. That’s why we prefer our goggles😅

Dank deinem Video habe ich mir auch eine FPV Ausrüstung besorgt und angefangen zu fliegen! Einfach nur Hammer! Und gleich von anfang an ein GPS eingebaut :) hat mir bereits einmal meinen Quad gerettet! Jetzt muss ich nur noch meine Flug und Videobearbeitungs-Sklills verbessern. Mein erstes Mountain-Surfing habe ich auch schon gedreht :) Hoffe es kommt mehr von Dir!

So amazing! such a cool location and your piloting skills are astounding! I'm into filmmaking/cinematography, and just got my first FPV quad. I've got a long way to go before ill be able to get good video with my gopro, but I'm so excited! this video is so inspiring, even the horribly scary crash!

Thank you, I’m super happy that I may have inspired 1 or 2 of you guys. Yes it is a long way but it is a fun one and it’s worth it so keep at it;) A smooth setup is important but the biggest part is you and your fingers. Find rates that suite your needs and practice a lot and you will get there:)

Omg VICTORY! HOW'D YOU FIND THAT IN THE DANG MOUNTAINS?! AWESOME!! Also, a suggestion you may not have thought of: put angle mode on a switch as a "panic button". When shit gets funky and you're losing video, flip er into angle mode. It'll help you maintain control while you're blind. Thanks for the great content!

Jesus! This crash is par for par the exact same situation that happened to me(video = Loup of Fintry) and likewise was around 7 hours to track it down. Amazing video though mate1🙌

Amazing. Love this place. I've got the same problem during a session in Morzine (french Alps) this summer. Once your are high you don't see well the variation of the shape of the mountain. I loose the signal (RC + video) but the buzzer was still bipping after 36 hours. But the GPS give me the exact position. But 3 days after i definitly loose my 7" quad during an other session, where i was in an extreme other configuration.

Gerade als ich dachte das ich gerne DVR vom Flug sehen würde, ZACK, da haste die mit eingebaut. Nice! Ich hasse es wenn das Signal flöten geht, diese Nervosität killt mich fast. Hab echt beim zuschauen gedacht, dreh dich, dreh dich!!! Wirklich ein geiles Video. PS: Long range ist zwar nett, freestyle bockt aber mehr.
