They were trying to escape quickly, there was no time to look for a spare helmet. Remember, Hawk had been captured and held prisoner by foreign agents who were trying to take not only him but Airwolf back to their home country. They captured him by giving false information about his missing brother. The papers were laced with a short acting sedative, as he flew away he passed out and his chopper crashed. This Allowed his captors to grab him and put him in the ambulance that they had following them. From there, he was rushed to a hospital, treated for his wounds whilst under strict security. After Hawk had began to regain his senses, he noticed irregularities; for example Accident investigators hadn't made contact for an initial statement, a woman doctor being a bit touchy feely, stroking his hair etc.

let`s be honest after sitting through every episode the best bit and the bit that we were really looking forward to watching is where airwolf blows some thing up, and when we watch clips like this on youtube we can really watch this happening let alone over and over again, and i for one will never fall out of love with the amazing sounds that the lady makes and the amazing and incredible theme music, that no doubt even if i listened to while my eyes were shut so i couldn`t see what i was watching, i could still tell you what tv series i was hearing the theme tune to, and although i dont really worry to much about hawk blowing away the bad guys, at least when he`s in combat against the russian jet`s he`s doing the work of uncle sam, and this being an era of american politics where the red menace is at least according to some tv series and films the main enemy, and that`s ok, but i do think that at least in some episodes he was practically a murderer like when he took down the sheriff, and instead of making sure that he went to prison, simply blew he up, and not only used most probably more bullets to do this than was most possibly used during a season of the a team, but was it perhaps a bit of a overkill to use a missile on him as well, despite the fact that he was possibly dead already, and as for what he did in the pilot episode when he went to the middle east to steal airwolf back, and once he got airwolf back, didn`t he technically carry out a massacre, but then he did do it against the bad guys, so thats ok.
@jasonduke3608 Жыл бұрын
So your calling my boy strong a murderer? Ok let's break this down. String fellow Hawke was a hardened war veteran who has unknown multiple kills from the Veitnam war. If you watched the show and studied the character you would notice String was very reluctant to fight but once he was forced into one, well you know what would always happen. Ok this particular episode " sweet britches " was introducing Jean Bruce Scott, who was a incredible addition to the show. This was the 2nd season opener and if you noticed the show kind of changed from the cold war era to more family friendly type action where it was the good guy always wins thing. Ok the sheriff kills Strings friend who did call string for help. String shows up in Pope county's bar and almost immediately gets arrested by the sheriff for no legal reason. If you remember the sheriff was corrupt. He was going to kill string as nd string knew it. The sheriff locked up Caitlin for no reason and had his men try to rape/ rough her up the sheriff gets his men to hunt string and murder him. Ok here is a question. How would string get the sheriff arrested? String was being shot at running for his life, running to Airwolf where he knew he would be safe. He had to save Caitlin and he knew with Airwolf, he could. String gave the sheriff a chance. He didn't want to kill him, but the sheriff wasn't going to budge. String had no choice. The missle I admit was a bit on the overkill side. The show had a formula whenever the combat theme was playing and it started to build and build they would always end the climax with a missle. It seemed to work. I dont believe string is a murderer, like I said he gave the sheriff a chance to surrender. Airwolf was made in the era where the good guy has to win in the end, it may not be perfect but he won. Airwolf was made in a non politically correct era and I miss those days very much. A show like Airwolf couldn't be made today, the technology and politics are so diffrent.
@digitalmagicAR Жыл бұрын
@@jasonduke3608 If I remember right (and I think I do) didn't the corrupt and murderous sheriff draw his gun and continue blasting holes in Caitline's copter glass trying to kill her and String said "don't make me do it" and it was obvious 100% the sheriff was going to keep firing on her until he killed her? String waited as long as he could before finally ending the murderous lawless depraved Sheriff. He had to be forcefully stopped but maybe not with a missile. The chain guns could have done the job. Other times String tried not to blow people up unless there was no other way to stop them and keep from being killed himself and talked the woman who's father was murderred not to kill the murderer when she had the chance at the end. Yes the show could never be made today because the show was patriotic and String & Dom loved America and were opposed to communism
@jasonduke3608 Жыл бұрын
@@digitalmagicAR Yes you remembered right. Aldo your right about string useing just the chain guns to finish the sheriff. But given the severity of the situation string wanted to be sure, plus once the theme music starts to build it always ends with the missile at the climax. God I miss the 80's. Your also right about a show like this could never be made today. I dont want to get political about it but this is a whole diffrent U.S.A. from when I was a kid. Thanks for your reply!

the main reason why we watch these type of action shows is to see the bad guys getting beaten up by the good guys, and when we first watched the episodes all those years ago on television to fill out the episode we probably had to sit through a load of twists and turns just so that we could get to the good part which off course was the hero getting revenge on the baddies, and although watching the whole episode was no doubt fun the best part came at the end, and now because of youtube we can just simply watch our favourite parts of the episode, namely the good guys giving the bully a spanking, and whats not to love with that.

Can a helo break the sound barrier and keep its rotors? There are rigid rotor systems which allow some choppers to do barrel rolls but Mach 1+? An afterburner on a helo would cost so much in weight. Maybe a mach 1+ helo does need not an afterburner. Maybe we can rig the VS-22 with a little something, something and replace those ugly props with something something.
@ddb57364 жыл бұрын
While the scale from the plane was awesome, there are too many issues with the scenes. I know is a TV show, but come on, a parachute cannot deploy from a helicopter with the rotors already going, she should have been wearing a helmet like all other episodes when a third passenger goes with them, and also as with all episodes, NO SEATBELTS!!! As far I remember, only Moffet and his crew used seatbelts. But seems that gravity forces don’t affect String and Dom... and her in this case as they did crazy stunts and inside they barely felt it. I know I know... is just a show, and it was awesome. Maybe one day they will reboot it, find very good actors that can be String and Dom, and with computer animation, make real cool scenes... and wear seatbelts!
@OurOnlyHope3 жыл бұрын
What was supposedly happening was the copter dropped out in reverse, deployed the chute and then started the rotors using the turbos to aid in momentum until they could get control. When the scale helicopter goes out the back the rotors are not spinning but since the rest of the footage was the real helicopter they had to have the rotors spinning for it to be able to fly. So they cheated the scene and the rotors are immediately spinning full speed. Nonetheless even the story of what they were supposed to be doing was impossible as there was not enough time to get the rotors up to speed. But of course, Airwolf was supposed to disengage it's rotors above a certain speed (500knots?) and fly using the turbos according to the show. Fun stuff. Got to love it and the great music too :)

And get to safety by a really skilled pilot. Forget the flaws of the serie scènes. With rotating blades and parachute. I just want to know if its possible?
@michaelloder51503 жыл бұрын
Rob- you can...it would have to be a very quick helicopter such as a sikorski or a military type attack helicopter like the cobra....think if it as this way....the Blue angles C5 i believe it is the cargo version that flies around has side thrusters on the plane, they can put that on a helicopter like Airwolf which is a Bell 222 model back in the day...having said that...when you drop cargo such as helicopter and expect it to take off you need to start the turbines right before it gets dropped then get the rotors going - then kick in the thrusters or "turbos" to get it to propel forward once its clear of the cargo...it is going to need about 15,000 feet to gain altitude as in this version of Airwolf...but its TV but I think its possible...I did fly a few Cessna 172s but I think a helicopter would be more capable of such a stunt...
@robvanlent10083 жыл бұрын
@@michaelloder5150 well sir, you know your stuff, I applaud you. Fully respect don't get me wrong please. But I learned. The rotors blades gave the sky lift. Like a helicopter losing its engine. It doesn't drop from the the sky. The natural blade rotation give you just enough lift. I think it is possible. To start up an helicopter from a plane. But it will be really close! But in airwolf. We had scenes without parachute. Before. But still we should try it. For the dare men.

The helicopter would not be falling level which means when they do try to reach any sort of high rpm you would experience mast bumping and break the main rotor shaft....We won't even get into "Vortex ring state" or "Settling with power" which is exactly what you'll find yourself in if you're trying to pull hard collective to arrest your high rate of descent... That's ofcourse if your blades are still there.. So the wind up is, no.. Everybody on that chopper would be dead.

@@doctorbrown2313 Okey thanks for your answer, but what ? If you had turbo and parachute to slow the fall down? Still this show was all done without the green screens. That's why they are better!

I believe the company that made the original Airwolf, Jetcopters, is still in business so maybe if they can find a blueprint then a new Airwolf could be possible.

I love use of 'stock dogfight footage', of Russian (Cuban) Mig fighters, from the Robert Mitchum, Robert Wagner movie, "The Hunters".
@digitalmagicAR Жыл бұрын
Yeah, season 1 dogfights used a lot of stock footage for the enemy aircraft, but in season2 and 3 they moved away from stock footage fights and brought in other aircraft. So you see them both in the frame and passing by. The camera crew was fantastic

@@saschabach3285 that episode it was Cuban air force. Airwolf was being smuggled out of the US in a cargo transport that intended to go to Cuba. East Germany is nowhere near the continental United States. Archangel even said they'd received word of MiGs being scrambled out of Cuba.

I can remember cringing as I watched this as a kid and it's just as bad now as it was then. I loved this show, but man did it fall a long way from the pilot. I don't remember what season this was from, but this scene showed not only how low their budget was, but how pressed for time they must have been to get this on the air. It's painfully obvious how the editor is working his or her ass off cutting quickly to hide the fact that all the aircraft except for Airwolf are taken from either file footage or other films. If you freeze it at 3:26 you see an F-86 rise up behind the MIG, which obviously makes no sense. On top of all of that, I felt bad for the poor woman playing the nurse. She had no dialogue and nothing to really do but sit there. I can almost hear the director saying: "look scared, now look amazed, now look excited, now look confused, now look around!" That said, anyone know where the shot of the F-86 is from?
@WalterDWormack2145 жыл бұрын
The aerial footage they used in this episode of Airwolf, was from *the old 1950s movie, "The Hunters", with Robert Mitchum, Robert Wagner, & Mai Britt.*

This episode was from the first season, so the show was still pretty fresh. I liked season 1 music and plotlines more, before they went too Hollywood. The cringiest was when they had a mentally challenged boy in the cockpit using a lightpen to draw the bad guys, and then using the "search...identify" feature to find the bad guys. Now that was super cringey.

That scene was the biggest pile of unbelievable horse shyte in the history of unbelievable horse shyte. I used to think Airwolf was awesome until I became a helicopter pilot and realized that 80% of everything they made that Bell Triple Deuce do was impossible.. Now all I can say upon reflection is that Airwolf was...... STILL FUGGIN AWESOME!!! It was the the 80's baby!! And cool vehicles doing impossible shyte was how we ROLLED!!!! (On a side note, whoever wrote this episode needs to be slapped.. there's thin line between imagination and complete ridiculousness).

I am such a nerd. The reason why they needed the drag shoot is because my friend, before the Navy, and I watched this show closely and we were just middle school kids at the time. We would have picked off very quickly that if the Wolf did not have something to slow its decent it would have been in the Ocean. We were just kids with zits but even we knew that back then. No, no helo can fly faster than the sound barrier. But, my team can come up with something. BTW, Russian pilots do not sound like that on radio. They are very masculine and tough. Okay, I am a Navy vet and engineer and Dad. I am ruining this show. Sorry.
@lonknight31977 ай бұрын
Sorry for answering a yr old comment but you got the reason for the drag chute wrong , it was not deployed to slow his decent because the distance and time saved by it would have been lost in the first 3 second turbo burst, not the chute was deployed to stop the freefall tumbling it cause Airwolf to go nose down without any more crazy rolls allowing the turbos to be used to create a controlled dive like a missile flys giving Hawke the use of the mach flight controls for steering, also mach flight would boost rotor spin on the chopper blades getting them to flight speed , restoring full manuvering control.
