Yeah, in a quarter that had Djokovic, Wawrinka, Zverev, and Thiem, Chung and Sandgren go through. This was the toughest quarter and they still managed to make it to the QF's. Brilliant.

music 2019 I'll take Sandgren all day, he's playing great.
@loganflowers31336 жыл бұрын
I would cross Zverev off that list. He's great in Masters, but doesn't have the stamina for best of 5s. There's a reason he's won 2 masters and made the quarters of 2 others, but has only made it past the 3rd round of a major once (and that time, he lost in the 4th).

One of the best matches I've ever seen. Credit to Thiem, he's a magnificent player. As for Sandgren, how can you not love the guy? The underdog, the journeyman, rises to the occasion. Not only does he have the strokes and the smarts, he's got the fire. I lost a lot of sleep watching this, but it was worth it.

Jack Taber damn he looked ok here tbh, his volleying is improved, his flat backhand still mostly poor on hard court when he’s right on the baseline but can pull out beautiful winners. I think he’ll have a better grass court season this year.
@husammo1236 жыл бұрын
BB-8 he lost one tight master to him and beat him in another last year. Guessing pressure got to him at the French open Semi, but make no mistake he has the game to take rafa apart on clay
@andreaskriegner79836 жыл бұрын
he's going to play the south american clay swing in february to vulture points with weak competition, instead of staying on hard court and working on his hc tennis..thought he improved this year but basically same level since 2015 , he has more potential though..needs some input outside of team bresnik
@loganflowers31336 жыл бұрын
He doesn't have the game to beat in form Rafa at a Bo5 clay tourney. He's played Nadal at the French twice, for a total of 14 games. Nadal destroys him at the French. Sure, he can play Nadal close at a Bo3, but no chance in Bo5.

Wow...like wow...Thiem should have never lost this match! He was playing so well through the tournament! But credit to Tennys, who really at this point was a blip on the tennis tour, but played crucial points well and he definitely hit his shots. Real bummer for Thiem! Look forward to seeing him at the FO! Joker and now Thiem. Big upsets!
@koboihenk6 жыл бұрын
I dont think this was the biggest upset although the rank different was indeed the widest. Thiem, with his playing style of big backswings and heavy top spins, is not suited for faster courts. Watched this after watching Chung vs Nole. Tennys is good but i think Chung is on another level. I think Chung should nail the QF match up in 4 sets max.
@loganflowers31336 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be so sure. Chung's serve is terrible. He has to break way too often to keep in the match. He broke Djokovic 6 times, and yet, looking at the score, it looks like he broke once. Tennys has a strong serve, and will be harder to break than a clearly still ailing and rusty Djokovic.

@jorgeferreira37606 жыл бұрын
My social media status is quite low, i don't feel i'd like to waste a lot of time with twitter or instashits and stuff. So far in Portugal (i want to believe) we see the value of the person instead of the sex and colour, that's why we have an indian looking prime-minister and his colour was never mentioned in any kind of media... He's there because he has value... Let's hope we don't get to state where in colleges professors force students to support Black lives mather or forbide free-speach and stuff like that. I understand that anyone that doesn't support the robolady crazy smilling Bill's wife is a total douche, so why bother. Also why don't they make uni-sex tournaments? like some clothes

@forthebirds46 жыл бұрын
This was one of the best matches I've ever watched, I was cheering for every point near the end! A few things I noticed from Tennys though, poor shot selection a several times that could have ended points early, his serve to the outside seemed to work every time so not sure why he didn't play that more, and finally, does he know how to hit a smash? If I remember correctly he had a few opportunities and lost the point because he (weakly) put the ball back in play instead of hitting an easy smash. Overall though it takes some huge mental strength to win this especially after losing the 4th, and his play was consistent if not perfect. At one point in the 3rd or 4th set they had a normal rally going and then a battle of wills of 'hit as fast and hard as you can' for about 8 shots with Sandgren winning the battle. I was impressed after watching him beat Stan, and I actually predicted he'd beat Thiem if he played with that same mentality and skill. The politics stuff doesn't interest me. I don't like Trump, but it has nothing to do with tennis, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy in interviews. Go Tennys!

Why do they keep acting like this is such a huge upset? Thiem has hardly won matches off clay since last June. This result is painfully predictable.

For the Qtr Final I think Tennys has also 50/50 chance to win, because Alex & Novak they are not comfortable at net, Chung beat them on theirs own game tracking down a lot balls they thought never coming back, and Tennys is different he knows exactly when he has to come to net to finish the points. Good Luck again!!

@nicholashuynh63856 жыл бұрын
Xuqu Feeder yes it is, going into five sets in a round where he never got past at 3/4 slams, Thiem probably had a lot of pressure on his mind when playing the fifth. He handles the big moments nervously and that’s what is keeping him out of the quarters and semis on hard court, clay he can do it cuz he has more confidence in his game on clay
@Dragz4066 жыл бұрын

Zverev needs fitness, not mental strength. He gases out at every major. Always fizzles in the 5th set of the third round.

Thiem puts too much energy into his shots that do not appear to have much behind them. He doesn't go for angles, doesn't come to net much... just sits back and takes big top spin cuts at the ball from way behind the baseline.
