Zverev had to take more risk to put Thiem out of his confort zone. In the last tie break Thiem played with full power zéro fear while Zverev was just pushing back

whose excited for this part 2 at the US Open Finals?!
@timothynguyen83433 жыл бұрын
Everyone has bad days. Zverev has had a lot this US Open. If Zverev can find his second serve, and hit a decent FH, he can win. Also, if Zverev can keep Thiem behind the baseline, like Medvedev did, Zverev also has a chance. For Thiem, he needs to attack Zverev's FH relentlessly, wait for a short ball, then hit to Zverev's BH, and wait for an easy volley winner. Thiem also needs to get as many first serve returns as possible.
@viksinha54103 жыл бұрын
@@timothynguyen8343 Perfectly put. My money is on Thiem in a close match because he played only 3 sets against Medvedev compared to Zverev's five against PCB and Thiem has more experience at this stage. If he doesn't let his previous gs final losses get to him, then I think he will win.
@lukashelmhart34973 жыл бұрын
@@timothynguyen8343 doesnt matter what zverev does tomorrow , thiem will win for sure. The zone hes in right now is just on annother level. Zverev should have been out a few rounds ago but his opponents pretty much gave it to him. I mean he played well when he was down but coric or carreno busta should have beat him. Thiem is still untouchable in this torunament , has an insane h2h vs zverev and he knows sasha better than anyone else so i really cant see him lose.
@timothynguyen83433 жыл бұрын
@@lukashelmhart3497 mmm, I agree to an extent. I don't want to prove you wrong because I want Thiem to win, but it all really depends on Zverev. If he shows up with high serve %, and rips backhands, he may create opportunities. He can put pressure on Thiem's serve and force errors. It really depends on whether Zverev brings a high level version, or low level version of himself to the final. Zverev is capable, and he is the underdog, unlike in his previous matches where he was the favourite. Thiem will hopefully continue his upward trend of getting better each match and win, but Zverev does have a chance, and I wouldn't count him out based on the previous rounds, because we all have bad days.
@lukashelmhart34973 жыл бұрын
@@timothynguyen8343 yeah youre right with almost everything, but like i said. If tgiem shows up in this zone he is in right now zverev will not stop him , doesnt matter how good he serves or anything. Its about time for thiem to get his first gs title and its a great matchup for him cause thiem is a little a fear opponent for zverev imo .

it's a good illustration that keeping your eye on the contact point is not for the purpose of gaining any visual information. it is just a trick that helps you keep your head stable through your swing. thiem doesn't need this trick to keep his head stable. he, instead, blinks because of how much explosive effort he is putting into the swing. he is, of course, watching the ball very intently as it approaches in order to calculate the ideal contact point, but once he starts his swing, he's committed to whatever contact point he has chosen, and visual information is no longer useful.
