Now the Ranalah wheeling machines are back from Goodwood Revival, I need to make some adjustments and prepare my first Ranalah for it's first proper use!
We are back in the workshop and having a short break from the barnfind Porsche 356 project, but we will be back on that soon!
A lunch trip in the vw split bus will hopefully keep the aircooled fans happy!
Thanks for watching! If you're enjoying my journey, please subscribe for free! You'll receive notifications when I upload a new video - every Sunday at 5pm (GMT)!

This was so interesting, I assume the setting of the alignment using lead was the way it was done originally but I wouldn't have guessed that. You just kind of assume that once cast it would just be machined. This way it can be reset in the future if there is any movement in the casting. This truly is a labour of love but you are gaining so much expeience as a result, It is not hard to imagine that your Ranalah machines will become the the very best available and I hope that your dedication and perfectionism will pay dividends. I truly hope that you make a few bob as a reward. John is a nice guy isn't he, clever too.

I got my book of tools, enjoying it so far! Missing the 'Record' on that lead pour, always the same, like when you kick off a sock and it goes into the washing basket without touching the sides....AND NOBODY SEES IT HAPPEN! An idea for your significant other or general St Valentine's day merch.....2 Ranalahs, face-to-face, or back-to-back, making a love heart. It might sell, it might not. IDK, I am not a marketing expert. 😁 💚🐇🐴💚

I think your using white metal as opposed to pure lead, traditionally 60/40 or eutectic alloy of lead tin ( eutectic is the binary alloys lowest melting point on the solution equilibrium phase diagram, a better alternative would be cerro matrix alloys bolster alloy, used to fix dies and punches on heavy presses, cerromatrix also make very good tube bending alloys that are invaluable. Have a look on their site, comes in 1 kg ingots, I’ve used it on presses up to 200 tons, very good at holding as it expands a tiny amount on solidification to grip as opposed to 60/40 which shrinks, loved the video, thank you

Greetings from the Netherlands. About 40 years ago I used to do grocery delivery runs in a slightly newer van, but that had at least 15 to 20 cm more ground clearance than your van. Were the old ones lower, or has yours been changed to a low rider? Are you going to leave it this low?
