I grew up in Atlanta, as a 10 year old boy I wanted to grow up to be like Dominique, today as a 42 year old man I wish to be half the man Nique is.... such a class act!

We’re the same age and those games still inspire. But the fact he’s a good dude speaks in volumes. I support your statement 🤘

I think the one on Parish was so trademark of Dominique’s power. Skinny player that dunked so hard that it sounded like thunder. The sound of his dunks were signature. You could literally be in another room while the game is playing with volume slightly up and could hear him wreck the rim.

Quick story about Dominique Wilkins. ... 2015? ... My wife works for Novo Nordisk a diabetes company. She is always going away to these events and they have stars at each event ... Just so happens I go with her to one of them its an Indy car race in Sonoma Ca. (we are from Jersey) so its a nice vacation / trip any way a great weekend. The Novo sponsored driver of the indy car that weekend takes a 3rd. and we get to go into the winners circle for pictures. We get to enjoy Napa Valley and taste some wines. Well when we were there at a NOVO night auction that weekend.... who shows up but Dominique who is a TYPE 1 Diabetic is also a spokesman for NOVO... I'm not a basketball follower / fan but love sports and Who Doesn't know a star like D. Wilkins ... well he walks up , people are all around him. so to my wife's credit I can't say why didn't you introduce me because of all the people around him but he happens to see my wife and with all the people around him (we were around 12-15 feet away) with a lot of people between us he gives a wave and says hi Linda....My wife waves back and says Hello Dominique I'm like you KNOW DOMINIQUE W???? .. My wife doesn't follow sports thinks nothing of it. If he was a bachelor from one of those shows she watches she'd probably would think differently anyway when things calmed down I was like Linda introduce me to him... she did He was well past his basketball years (retired) obviously its (2015)but I was in all of the guy just the same >>>>>again with that said i'm not a basketball follower but a true great of his craft is a true great of a sport.. Anyway I bid and won an autographed basketball of Dominique and I'm a fan. He is a gentleman and nice guy. Wow is he tall.... I'm only 5-8 ...

One of the many reasons why watching the game was so much more fun back in the day was because of the extremely interesting dynamic players on most of each of the teams back then... Something about today's players seem less unique or homogenized. I loved watching Johnson and expecting the assists and the fast breaks; the sky hook with Jabbar. Wilkins had his windmill dunk and his particular style of playing. Each player and each team had more defined characteristics.

A really great interview! Nique is somebody I've learned so much about in the internet as an overseas fan. I can really recommend his highlights in the Euroleague final in the mid-90s. As a German fan, I didn't even know legendary Nique played for a club with a proud history like Panathinaikos Athens after his NBA career. And not like Dwight in Taiwan nowadays, Nique was dominating and even had a LeBronesque block in the finals game of the Euroleague that year. If I remember correctly it was against Barcelona.

The fact that he wasn't in the 50 greatest players in NBA History in 1997 is a major injustice. I would have removed Pippen or Walton from the list.

Pip was a much better all around player
@mateensharrieff34003 жыл бұрын
Pippen wasn't as good offensively as 'Nique, but Pip was good offensively and more than made up for it defensively. Pip is the best defensive small forward of all-time, ahead of Bobby Jones. James Worthy isn't top 50, he's the player to remove.

Dominique, was way better than some of the 50 great, NBA Players and he have the rank, to prove it. Bob McAdoo, was better than several Great NBA players and have the rank, to prove it. It taken Bernard King, until recent years, to make NBA Hall Of Fame 2013. Magic acknowledged, that Bernard, could not be stop and Bird speak highly of his basketball play. Ice Man speak highly of his basketball play. Which Bernard King, should have been in the Hall Of Fame before Jordan, Shaq or any other recent NBA Player, that retired after Bernard King. The politics, in the NBA and the NBA Hall of fame, is crazy. However, I'm happy for Bernard King, going into the Hall Of Fame finally. It has been well overdue.

Mane didn't make the top 50 NBA all time greats. Well i didnt get to see the older players but i did see Drexler Barkley Pippen Malone Worthy play & they weren't as good as Nique. I just wish somebody would ask Bird & MJ that if there life was on the line, Who would they pick for 1 game to match number for number with them, They can pick any of those players or Nique. I guarantee its Nique without an hesitation. Nique was the last man to win the scoring title from MJ, & wen MJ was the scoring champ, Nique was usually 2nd,& That was without another All-Star player. Nique had alot of haters, because whoeva voted the all time top 50 & left him off frfr, C-MON! & cheated in the slam dunk contest, frfr C-MON!!!!
