If there are twenty one here, certainly there are many more. Thank you all for lifting my spirit Considering what we have all endured , in particular, over the last century, it is something of a miracle that not all have forgotten what it means to be an Orthodox Christian. :)

Interesting! Jaroff uses little movement. He does not direct the meter. He shapes the sound with hand gestures and head nods. The effect creates attention from the chorus. The chorus must know the music by heart and then they are free to watch the conductor.

I met Serge Jaroff in N.Y.C. when I was a child. My father was a Don Kazak and at that time they where the best horsemen in the world. The story of these that sang with Serge is heart warming. Most of them escaped getting killed when the revolution started in Russia.Leaving there homeland with only the clothes on there backs. When they performed Serge made sure only the one's that had a good uniform would be in the front line singing. Those who's uniform was tattered had to sing in the back row.

CarpatoRus Yes, I agree,Cossacks and Khazars are distantly related! But the name cossack came from khazar (kosar). Also some people survived even the Mongol invasion and continued to live in the Don area.

I did not have any room left on my first post. This film was made in Germany in the year of 1930. I was born in New York City Dec. 15, 1930. Long live the Kazaks of today and tomorrow.....................

The film was made in 1935, somebody said in 1936. But in all cases that's much closer to December 1930 than any year now))

stuartsob Not only Khazar Kagan(King) was converted to Judaism but most of the khazars and also many East slavs who were tributary nations of Khazars! The Don cossacks are the prime descendants of khazars(kosars), Russia has established her control over the cossack area only in 18 century! The cossacks even today categorically deny the opinion that they are related to Russians!

Poverty, corruption and misery are common realities in most of the countries of the world. There have been large public demonstrations against most countries governments. Some have it that fifty percent of Americans live below the "poverty line". Its complicated but "corruption" interferes with numerous forms of "innovation" from technological to political. "Wealth" and "power" depend on keeping "friends" in place, including the "systems" they make money from. "Poverty" is a tech problem.

@movitmovit Many nations have suffered this form of mass insanity. China, Russia, Germany, France, England and many others down through history have suffered such episodes. As long as there are 'have not nations' there will be such episodes.

Most important : My remarks have nothing to do with favoring Russia, but rather maintaining balances of political and economic power which the greed of some would unbalance, with catastrophic results.
@andyrick12312 жыл бұрын
What exactly do you mean by "Englsh Diplomacy" ? Whatr possible infulence has the United Kingdom got amongst the Slavs? England hasn't been an independent sovereign state since 1707.

It is an ancient maxim. Julius Caesar "Divide and conquer". The first love of my life was an English girl in Canada. I wish to see a unified world, prosperous and at peace. Call me a 'technoChristian'. I believe God made man and technology ; to make of man, the shepherd of this world, earth. While we war and disrespect each other, there is no chance of fulfilling such a purpose. :) "Beating swords into plowshares" is not a request, it is a command that will be enforced.

stuartsob Here are some medieval quotes about Khazars: " The Khazars and their king are all Jews" Ahmad-Ibn-Fadlan (the arab traveler). "All Khazars are Jews" Arab traveler Ibn-Al-Faqih "Ibn-Al-Athir tells how in the days of Harun, the emperor of Bizantium forsed the Jews to emigrate. They came to the Khazar country where they found intelligent but untutored race and offered them their religion. The Khazars found it better that their own and accepted it". Dimashqi (the arab historian).

@LutzBrux1 Slavs part of Europe ? Don't get me wrong. I wish there were a pan human union. Politically and economically the Slavs have been called part of Europe only when it was convenient to Europe. There were at least two "Crusades" against Orthodox Slavs. Power divided three ways is a little less dangerous than only two. Peter did behave badly when visiting England. The Teutonic Knights, Sweden, France, Germany all behaved much worse when 'visiting' Slavic lands and people.
@vladdrac8812 жыл бұрын
Forgive what seems a political comment in answer to LutzBrux. I believe what is written in the Eighty Second Psalm. I think it anti Christian that we are divide and war amongst each other based on race, nation or religion. I would like to see a united world playing Good Shepherd to the Earth rather than poisoner and destroyer. Until then I will side with no one seeking power over other nations. That way, God might really be on my side. :) "a vot takoy prastoy" :)

it's hard for me to watch even something as beautiful as this without thinking of how terrible the 30s were in russia and ukraine. there was the holodomor of 1932-33, the harsh purges of 1937-38, and the refinement of the GULAG incarceration network :(

We also gave Karl Marx a safe haven - what's your problem? As for Berezofsky keeping 'his' money - we do not confiscate property - if, as you maintain, he's guilty of fraud then it's the responsibility of the accusing state to bring charges, not for the British Government to take a position before he's been charged and tried by his accusers. Granting Berezovsky political asylum and treating him as innocent until proved guilty is not collusion.
@vladdrac8812 жыл бұрын
Europe a civilisation ? If you measure civilisation by success of conquest, perhaps one might count Europe civilised. Tell me ; what government is not corrupt or 'good' via temporary fortune. Sweden ? Once, even Sweden invaded Russia.
@BaronVonGalatz13 жыл бұрын
@vladdrac88 Exactly, there is a European Union ! So why would there be a need to create a Slavic one ??? Europe, european, these are the words for a greater entity ! Slavic, latin, germanic, etc are smaller entities. European unites all of these into one greater one ! Now you understand, or to i need to draw it to you ???

I would like to see the evidence of British Government collusion with Berezofsky. If he supports Ukrainian nationalism he is free to do so provided his activities are not against the law in this country. As far as I'm aware the Ukraine is an independent state.
@andyrick12312 жыл бұрын
Correction: He received asylum in The United Kingdom. As for a blessing from the "English Government" - there hasn't been an English Government since 1707 - you must mean the British Government. As a free man he can do what he likes with his money - he would need neither government support nor permission. I suggest you seek out the motive of the company who made the documentary video.
@vladdrac8812 жыл бұрын
Not long ago there was a documentary video made in the West about Boris Berezofsky who has received political asylum in England. It described how, with the blessings of the English government, he was funding anti Russian nationalist movements, particularly in Ukraine . As with Oil it may be more about resources than 'principals'.

stuartsob Some of the Khazars became muslims or christians but the official religion of Khazar kingdom was Judaism! And since khazar king and nobility became Jews it was only question of time for other khazars to become jews too! It was the same in each and every country: the religion of the rulers becomes the religion of commoners! Also Khazaria was very tolerant country, there were no religious presecution!
