I liked Curry, but I never had him as P4P No 1. I had Hagler as the best - Hearns & McCallum were above Curry as well. Hagler had better movement & work rate, & was never a stationary target. Curry posed peek-a-boo in front of his opponent too much. Curry got away with it against textbook boxers who threw straight punches, but as soon as he came up against boxers who were wise enough to punch whenever he shelled up, & go around his high guard, as Honeyghan, Norris, McCallum & Nunn did, he was found wanting. A Hagler/Curry bout would have been lucrative, but Curry would have been destroyed if that bout happened. & I won't begin to say what Hearns would have done to Curry.

Curry at that time was amazing a real sharpshooter, gunslinger. He was on top but Jones was firing back it was really shaping up to be a great fight. Jonesy was one of my all time favourites but he was a little too cautious in this fight. Lloyd Honyghan fought Curry and went at him from the first bell and Curry couldn't handle the relentless onslaught, as nobody had done that to him before. Your comment is one big contradiction. Jones was getting tagged left and right. The punches he was taking was so much harder than the ones he was given it was so obvious. You find fault with the fight yet the guy never faught again which means it was a good stoppage. If you think that was a good showing because he had so much left in him it is laughable. Jim Watt was very disrespectful, he only become World Champion because Roberto Duran moved up from lightweight to Welterweight. Duran would've KO'D him inside 3 rounds. Duran beat Ken Buchanon to win the title in 1972 and Jim Watt LOST to an old Buchanon in the early 1980's in an all Scottish fight. Watt still talks rubbish today. Surely we've got better ex-boxers who talk sense (mind you, Froch is a clown).Colin Jones was very unlucky NOT to have been World Champion, McCrory was lucky in both fights -dodgy actions in the corner after round 9 TWICE. Nothing lucky about Watt's career. He lost a pretty close, competitive decision to Buchanan when Buchanan was still considered one of the best fighters on the planet, pound for pound. And Watt was ahead for a long time in that fight before Buchanan went to work on the body. Watt was roundly expected to lose to Nash and especially to Howard Davis, who'd won Olympic gold in '76 and was voted the best stylist of the Games, ahead of Ray Leonard. Davis was also one punch away from beating Edwin Rosario in later years. Virtually nobody went the distance against Arguello in Alexis' successful title fights, either - but Watt did. I don't understand the constant derision Watt gets.
