Getting old really sucks. The great thing about your life, in my humble opinion, is that the library of music you have created never gets old. You left a legacy that will long out live us all. Some of my best memories and awesome times of my life were the 80's and 90"s hair bands and the numerous concerts I was priviledged to enjoy. Bands like yours, no matter who has come and gone, have enriched more lives than you could ever imagine. Here"s hoping you feel better and heal....mind, body, and soul, and get "Back for the attack!"

I had a stroke about 8 years ago and I used to play a guitar and ride my Indian Chief but I'm partially paralyzed from the stroke and that ended my shredding and riding my Indian

With all this pain and paralysis in his life Don is just as nice as you see on this video. No attitude, no whining, no bullshit prima donna stuff. When I met him he was so down to earth and real. He is happy to be playing and loves being on his ranch in NM. I wish him and the band all the best.

Don is approachable at shows, if you want to talk with him, go see his show. He will talk with you. Like I said, he is a nice guy, at least that was my experience.

I heard George lives in NM too, not trying to bother him either, I believe in letting people live their lives. I have seen Dokken over the years, first time was in the 80s when I was a kid.

Yea that sucks about their health. I hope Don regains use of his right arm fully. . I loved Dokken back in the day. I remember when I first heard the song “ Breaking the Chains” , I went out and bought the album the same day. “ Paris is Burning “ has to be one of the best live rock songs ever recorded. Lynch was on fire with that guitar work. Great vocals too. No matter what happens, Don has created a legacy that won’t be forgotten.

@@KathyAnn-fu1sk I don't quite follow. What is he doing? My man made some great music. He is a legend with great pipes. I hope he transitions to his new life gracefully. You can't rock forever nor should most try. It's also time for Bon Jovi to hang it up. He can't sing anymore. Sad part is, most older rockers feel lost without their art. It becomes their identity. I play- but also got tinnitis so I cant play much, only quietly, never in a band or on stage ever again (or I suffer.) Life is definitely not fair but I have life so I am grateful.

My right arm was paralysed for a while when I was a teenager. As soon as my mom found my collection of Hustler magazines and tossed em, my arm was back to normal rather quickly. Was a small price to pay for hours of passion. 😬😁

yep, smoking drops the larynx wich makes your voice lower and shortens your vocal range. He could get his voice back if he took high dose Vitamin C and cologin. V C makes the cologin work in the body. He could have a more youthful voice agian.

@@user-tv6es5fp4e sorry bout your bro. I just think smoking isn't good for singing. it drops your larynx wich means you loose your vocal range. When your young you can get away with it because your still full of cologin and your conective tissue is flexible, when you age and you smoke and drink it makes ya brittle, things break down easy. V-C and cologin and stop smoking and drinking to make the vocals young agian.

Very sorry to hear, Don. I saw you in the 80's on the Monsters of Rock tour. VH headlined. Scorps, early Metallica, and your band. Full disclosure: I'm not much of a metal fan. Much respect, but not really my thing. But what sticks with me nearly 40 years later is that YOU had the best tone that day, hands down. A stage packed with fantastic players that you surpassed. Well done, sir.

Don is 70 years old now, and as a fan of Dokken, I completely understand the concept of physical inconveniences that limit what Don can do as a perfomer. The man has nothing to prove to anybody. P.S.: Smoking is not helping your situation.

Dokken always were seen as a glam band, but they were so much more than that, somehow they managed to have insanely catchy hooks and still be heavier than any of those bands they were lumped in with. Respect to Don Dokken, he has been around a long time.

Don is 70, and limb/hands problems may happen to anyone at that age. No need to blame it on the vaccines when there may be other 100 reasons for it to happen. In 10 years time there will still be people saying "the consequences of the vaccines will arrive soon" and they will never come. Just give up, it didn't happen and won't happen either.

After 40 years of playing guitar, I have thumb arthritis in both hands. It hurts a lot and slowly I lost my interest in playing. I can play electric bass as long as the right thumb is not much involved. I work as guitar and bass teacher and some days is very difficult to show my pupils certain exercises. I focused myself in writing and producing, so I can understand totally the frustration of Mr Dokken.

I’m a life time guitarist, and developed trigger thumb in my picking hand. I couldn’t hold the pick because my thumb would snap shut. I got shots that worked for only 2 months, but then I got the Flextend glove and it cured it. Took 8 weeks of use. I know arthritis is different, but it may help you.

@@stratkiller2531 exactly. it's about his voice and some of us know that smoking drops the larynx wich lowers the voice and it also zaps the body of V-C wich makes collagen to keep your connective tissues flexible. When you age it gets worse. Ad smoking and drinking it will dry you up and make things brittle

Yup, the McKenzie Institute/Method is quite effect. There is a huge disconnect between doctors and physical therapists. I was having experiencing terrible shoulder pain and McKenzie techniques helped. I also learned that sleep positions can wreak havoc on joints, ligaments and tendons.

Pls can you let people i coment give Don a brake with this '' stop smoking'' i mean my grandfather lived 102 and smoked tobacco rolled in a newspapers! It ain't recommended etc but Don is legend, He had enough trouble a few cigis per day won't do Him any harm for sure. I have screws in my right arms and i'm musician, so i feel sorry that don hand is paralyzed..What happened to his neck why He had to have that OP? can they take it out and remove the pressure from the nerves? That Surgeon honestly made a mess. I wish Don can come to my Country in Europe to get proper help and recover.
