I would think that old MMA/UFC legends like Fry deserve free lifetime TV subscriptions and free tickets to at least a few matches per year. It's good business (PR) to have them in the crowd being seen . . . not to mention an honorable thing to do.

I know! WTF is that about. 'UFC is too expensive' for a hall of fame UFC champ to watch'!! Thats fucking depressing.
@popcur
@popcur 7 жыл бұрын
One example, WWE gave all expense trip and tickets to a pay per view. For ex announcer Jim Ross. Jim Ross was fired from WWE. How about this marketing idea? For MMA, invite two fighters that fought each other in a memorable match. Plus, pay them a fee. Let them sit next to each other. Interview them and then mention. If you want to see that fight. Here's how to purchase to see it.

@@diesto-vg5jz Agreed. One of the luckiest, greediest little scumbags on the planet. He hit the lottery with the UFC. It was a right time, right place situation, not his intelligence that landed him his success. And I actually used to like him just because of political ideology. Fortunately I'm capable of independent thought and don't have to support people just because they are "on my side"

I agree. It just goes to show how little respect or regard the UFC really has for its fighters. They are treated like a raw commodity that the institution uses and abuses in order to line their pockets with gold. When they hit their use by date, they are just kicked to the roadside. I have no respect for Dana, he is not a true advocate for the fighters. The only reason he loves Conor is because of the cash he brings in.

Agreed! As a "pre-dinosaur" myself, even though I can now afford to watch a UFC PPV, I refuse. It's bulls**t. You've got to know that's somethings wrong when Joe Silva, Dave Sholler, Lorenzo Fertitta, all decide to leave the UFC (not to mention the dismissal of 'Stitch'). So the main match maker, the main PR guy, and even the CEO (former CEO) are leaving the UFC (and the best corner man in the game, Stitch). Now, even a fighter that went a decade without losing a fight wants out (Jose Aldo). Fedor never came over. Something just doesn't add up. And if you have ever met Dana White (got to be around him a little), it's not hard to wrap your mind around. MMA, namely the UFC, is the fastest growing sport in the world. It's at its peak, in both popularity and economically. So why would so many big wigs be on their way out? If you have any business sense at all, you would be posing these questions as well. And hmm, there always seems to be a common denominator in every single internal UFC issue. But I digress, and ask again...Why would the 'Rich' walk away from becoming richer?

This guy helped put the UFC on the map. Dana should have some sort of retro active IRA pension system for the older guys. Dan Severn, Tank Abbot and others. I think they have earned it. It wouldn't cost the UFC very much either. $100,000 per fighter placed in a 3 or 4 percent mutual fund would at least provide some kind of income for these guys. The UFC would cover their expenses in one GSP pay per view event.

Love how he defended the fighters..especially Jones after he was taking so much heat for refusing to fight on 8 days notice. Now to hear on top of everything else, they expected him to take a pay cut?? Amazing..smh

Met both him and Henderson at the uso tour in afghanistan he mentions in 2007. Don reached across the table and grabbed me by the shirt spontaneously and another buddy happened to take a pic. Its a cherished pic of mine in my office. Thanks Don for coming to see us. Thanks for that cool moment!

So sad, Don Frye looks like hell. He looks completely washed up. He even said he can't afford to watch UFC because it's too expensive. When asked about the development of the sport, he said "I wish I was making the money these guys are making." Man, the fighting life seems to end badly.

Pretty sure he was just commenting about how their PPV's are over priced. Don has money, don't worry about him on that aspect. Between the money he gained from his previous fights, pro wrestling and endorsement deals he is comfortable I am sure. =0)
