The 'King of the Buskers' performs his hit single 'Blue Eyes' on Top of the Pops (6th June 1968). The record reached No.3 and was his second and biggest release.
Don Partridge was born on October 27th, 1941 in Bournemouth. He made his chart debut in March 1968 with 'Rosie'. He saw brief continued success with all Acoustic band 'Accolade', forming in 1969. After splitting in 1971, Partridge returned to busking.
Don Partridge died of a heart attack in Peacehaven on 21 September 2010. He was just over a month shy of his birthday, passing away at the age of 68.
It happens every spring
I hear this bluebird sing
Love is here again to stay
But now that I've found you
I know this time it's true
Love is really here to stay
Blue eyes look my way
Make today my lucky day
Blue eyes looking at me
Hope you're liking what you see
Hope you're liking what you see
Nobody ever saw
This deep deep blue before
Bluebells look up in surprise
The sky admits defeat
The sea will kiss your feet
I could drown in those blue eyes
Blue eyes shining down
Everything is right somehow
Blue eyes stay here with me
Find my world in those blue eyes
Find my world in those blue eyes
It happens every spring
I hear this bluebird sing
Love is here again to stay
But now that I've found you
I know this time it's true
Love is really here to stay
Blue eyes look my way
Make today my lucky day
Blue eyes looking at me
Hope you're liking what you see
Hope you're liking what you see

Yes an interesting lonely individual travelling all around the UK coast an indeed europe even until his early death in his 60s, shame really a kind of nomad if you like, he slept out under his stars more time than most had hot dinner's

I was once Donald's bottler. We busked Leicester Square and the theatre bursts as well as the Saturday pitch at the Elephant and Castle market. In those days, he played with a guy named Pat Keane (12 string).

"Rosie and Blue eyes".....brings me straight back to my youth....Don was a very talented young man, and, he led a really interesting working life too.....Long before the era of spoilt super-rich pop idols he plied his trade out in the cold windy, frequently wet streets for 'tanners' and half-crowns.....Those were the days when if someone put a ten-bob note (50p) in the hat, you thought you'd hit the big time...

I was fortunate enough to have spent an evening with him after a gig at Loughborough in the early 70s, he was such a modest, humble man who was quite happy to live a frugal self sufficient life. He refused to sing 'Rosie', the song that brought him fame as it had thrown him into the spotlight and didn't want to be known just for that song. RIP Don, a gentleman.

I absolutely love this song! It was the last single my dad bought before he died...at the time he had a neat little record player in the car (not joking) which played singles like a juke-box...(you had to remove the middle bit). On hearing this I am transported back in time sitting in the car as my dad is driving listening to Rosie.I still have that single and will pass it on as one of my 'inheritance tracks'!

They aren't 'morons' as you call them they just want to get along, by an large people don't want to catch eye with street performers on account of giving money they feel they are being robbed, I'm guilty I suppose I don't like staring at them, although I have great respect indeed for a talented guy like don so much so I'd take him for a pint or 8 perhaps great guy don !..
