Don Rickles loved Sinatra…. He and Carson helped him immensely at the beginning of his career, and Rickles never forgot it. He thanked him constantly and was loyal to Frank until the very end.. Don was even a pall bearer at his funeral.

I have such fond memories of watching these entertainment giants when I was a kid. From Sinatra and Rickles to Dean Martin, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Klugman, Johnny Carson, etc. Look at the talent on that one episode of the Tonight Show. I don't recognize many (most?) of the people who show up on the tonight show these days. If a network re-ran Carson at 10:30 now, I'd watch him every night.

In the mid 90s , a daytime talk show was made , hoping to get the same success as Donahue and Oprah . The host was from a cancelled syndicated show like Hard Copy or A Current Affair . One guest wrote a book about being the son of a New York Godfather . Its rumored the Godfather book was based on HIS family . The son went to Vietnam instead of North Korea . Anyway ,the Godfather went to Vegas for business AND to see Frank Sinatra . The Godfather shows up early and Rickles was opening for him . As the Godfather gets to his reaerved seats Rickles does some comedy shtick about the Godfather and his entourage of goons . After Rickles finished the Godfather tells his son " I want him dead " .
