I never got to see him live. In 2008 he had a show scheduled at a casino in Mississippi or Alabama. I got two tickets for my dad and I in the front row. I wanted and my dad would have loved to get his chops busted by Mr. Warmth. Unfortunately his health kinda went down and he couldn't really tour anymore. It's one of the only regrets in my life

the thing that sets Don apart from all his peers and pretenders, is this - he really does it from the heart. There's no nasty bone or mean spirit about him. And that's why he's well and truly known as Mr Warmth. Ppl like Ricky Gervais or all those ppl doing roast shows, they dont come even close to Don, not even Jeff Ross - because u can tell they put on a persona for showbiz, and are probably stuck up/nasty when the masks are off. Not with Don. You know he was the same with or without the spotlight i.e. funny and genuinely warm.

Don didn't hold anything back. Never had to be dirty to get the laughs. A pure joy to be around. I was lucky enough to take him around the casino to his performance. I met him, Tony O., Sinatra's former manager, and I met Mrs. Rickles, Barbara. Classy people. He was truly Mr Warmth in every sense of the word. I cried when we lost Don.
