The irony is Sweden & Finland the neutral countries behaving like Nato members and want to join Nato while Turkey Nato member behaves like neutral and does not cooperate with Nato or EU on sanctions on Russia and trades with both EU/NATO and Russia.

NATO is a military "defence" alliance. NATO has nothing to do with a country's policies and decision making. Understand the difference. European Union is an "economic" alliance. Member states can have different policies. What about the friction among the European countries such as Austria, Hungry, France, Germany, etc over the immigrants? Do they act like EU countries? Or this logic specifically only applies to Turkey? Lol

As a native Russian speaker I cannot stress enough of importance of proper translations. Lady commentator said that Russia has no problem with those countries joining NATO, but Putin said in this video "its a problem" and subtitles are wrong as well, not translating word by word. Now I wonder how many leaders' speeches are misinterpreted by wrong translations. I see other youtube channels making the same "mistake", it means they have same source...

Turkey will likely cave to pressure from Nato, but not until Erdogan gets a few things in return - economic or otherwise. I'm not a fan of him or many living world leaders I can think of, but I still know he is not a fool.

When Turkey was negotiating membership in the EU, Finland and Sweden did not welcome it. Turkey's current position is not surprising. The story about Scandinavia harboring Turkey's enemies is also true.

@@regpane Turkey had long negotiated membership in the European Union, and it was eventually admitted, but the final conditions were not acceptable to Turkey, and it did not join the Union.

@@regpane Turkey was not exactly barred from entering the EU, but the terms were harsh and were ultimately rejected by Turkey. Because of the Scandinavian states, I had the impression that Turkey had not been welcomed into the Union.

No. It's correctly translate. I heard same in French media. Putin says those country can go ahead and join NATO but no NATO missiles in their territories or russia bring missiles at their border with russia. Putin is wriggling like a cornered rat. He can't top so he says ok go ahead and join NATO but no foreign missiles in your country. BS. Early this year, russia said it wanted some new members of NATO bordering russia to quit NATO altogether. Now, NATO border with russia will DOUBLE and he says ''that ok' just no missiles around'. But there are NO NATO missiles in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia etc...

Hungary is on board since Germany is supporting the action. Hungary won't risk this since Putin isn't pressuring Finland or Sweden too much. Putin knows they won't be having any NATO military bases in those countries so they are basically ok with this.

It is on good knowledge that Turkey is soon to be removed from NATO if they try to stop Sweden and Finland's membership bid! Turkey does not have enough evidence on them being terrorists. It might come as a surprise to you but some countries have laws and they actually follow them. The government can't just give people to Turkey just because Turkey says so. Turkey is free to bring forth evidence of terrorism but I think everyone here know that it's not going to happen.

Russia doesn’t have much room to complain given its record of invading its neighbors stretching back at least a hundred years (1920s invasion of Poland, then again in 1939 in collaboration with Naz1 Germany, followed by its invasion and annexation of the Baltic countries. Also, 1939-1940 invasion of Finland, Hungary in 1956, Czechoslovakia in 1968, Afghanistan in 1979, and in more modern times: 2008 invasion of Georgia, 2014 invasion of Ukraine, and now 2022 invasion of Ukraine. I may have missed a few, but you get the idea. It’s obvious to anyone who bothers to pay attention that “NATO eastward expansion/encroachment” is actually many smaller, free countries taking steps to ensure that they will remain free and sovereign, not Russian puppets or conquests.

Turkey does have a chance actually. Its a rule of NATO. When a country is wanting to join NATO, every member of NATO has to aproove. Even if 1 country denies, the offer gets rejected.

Every member of any sort of alliance has the right to it's own interests. In NATO, every member has veto right. If you cannot exercise this right, then there is a problem with that alliance. Even more so when members try to influence by force other member's choices. Turkey has the right to say NO, I wish more members come to their senses and say NO. Finland and Sweden are only escalating the tension by joining NATO. This is time to seek peace, instead of expanding security concerns further. I guess US has more influence on Scandinavia than we thought.

Only our politicians got in a dementia state and act as if the world's history started on February 24th and as if the tree of life grows out of Charlie Chaplin Zelensky's ashole. US admitted several times they have been sending weapons to Ukraine since 2014. Those weapons were shelling citizens of Ukraine for the last 8 years under NATOS's watch.

Remember that in the past Erdogan was even more highly opposed to Danish PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen's bid to become NATO chief, because Rasmussen had failed to act on Turkish requests to ban a Denmark-based TV station linked to PKK and also criticized his stance during the Danish Mohammed cartoon crisis. Erdogan then was lectured by the USA about not bringing Islam, religion and free speech into the discussion, and the Danish PM was then appointed NATO chief.
