They run faster on airplane mode. Battery lasts longer too. I've been reading off Kindles since 2010 and love them. Have a current generation Paperwhite with the night mode and it's great.

I actually read on airplane mode 100% of the time and don’t even bother with over the air stuff with my old kindle. Makes the battery last way longer and run faster.

@@crashtestjustin Running it in wifi mode can run the battery down in a few days, but in airplane it can last two to three weeks.

Bought a 4th gen paperwhite a couple of months before the new one got announced. But I got it second hand for $17 in perfect condition. Definitely get a second hand one when it comes to devices like this.

My mom got me a Kindle Paperwhite (2019) for my birthday and then a few days later, the new 2021 model came out! I don't mind though, it was on a 35% discount and it works well!

Any time I make a purchase I always check for new model release dates. I do this when buying a car too. Last thing u want is to buy a car and year later a new model is out making your car drop in price like crazy. Normally if the model is soon to change you should get a crazy discount like the one you got. Otherwise jus wait 4 the new model 2 drop.!!!

@@sandeepathwal4188cars get updated yearly, the only time this will really apply is if it’s a refresh year, then the car thing will make a lot more sense because that’s when it’s a major design refresh and other major updates. Otherwise it’s pretty much incremental were the difference between last year and the next is not much of a difference

Used kindles work fine if you don’t mind one that’s a bit slow for loading books. Turning pages is typically always fine though

Kindles hold up. My parents gave me one for Christmas when I was twelve and another twelve years later it's still ticking, albeit a little slowly and the battery isn't awesome. Definitely worth buying used

Makes sense. These devices age way, waaaay better than other electronics. However, for 120 bucks I just got the latest paperwhite brand new. I'll use it a lot so I think it's worth it

I agrée with this too! If it’s worth it to you then it’s a good purchase. I mainly made this for people looking to save a few bucks but I agree a new one can be worth it.

The only downside on buying an used Kindle is, depending of the model you get, not having access to the Kindle store anymore, since Amazon shut it down on those devices in August 17, 2022. That’s why I decided going with a new generation paperwhite, as I don’t have a computer to transfer my books

Yeah if you don’t have a computer to add ebooks manually you need to make sure you have a decide that can access the kindle store. Good catch!!!

I bought a used kindle ppw4 after watching this and I'm so happy. I got it for a good deal and it's 32gb! The only issue it had is that it can't get registered, but it's okay as there are other options out there like sideloading and the kindle works totally fine! Thank u for the tip 🤗

What do you mean as sideloading? Is there anyway or steps by steps for sideloading? Because mine couldn't work well, it keeps saying unable to connect/registered, although my wifi works well on other devices. What kindle you had issues on?

Mine's also like yours but I can't register it since it's used and I tried factory reset or reseting it....nothing. I even tried updating manually and registering it to make a new amazon account but the page wouldn't load. Can anyone help please? I have the same model in the video and if anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Got my ppw5 today(upgraded from basic kindle prev gen). Boy o boy worth every penny. Eventhough in India it is overpriced. But if you can invest your money for phone which will heavily dostract your productivity as a whole. Why we shy away from such a life changing devie?

I bought a used Voyage for $60, the high resolution one with page turn sensors. It keeps the old firmware too. It lists 8 items per page instead of 4.

@@crashtestjustin and even with a free case good quality with "kindle" on it valued in 35€ too, and the kindle is the 4th gen but is not touch screen, is the version with switch on it but i prefer it, it was of one lady who buy it and never use it, totally brand new, is like a time travel of 10 years ago for just 20€! I got the 4th gen Kindle for 12 USD. It functions well with minor cosmetic damage. I like it better than the newer touchscreen version, mainly because the page back/forward buttons on both sides. Buying a used Kindle is a good way to start reading again. If you dont like it, you can always resell it and you wont lose much (or any) money

I live in the middle of nowhere, where it's mostly seniors. The odds of me finding a used kindle is slim to none. I'd probably spend the same amount of money as a new kindle in gas and time to travel 6+hrs to find a used one in the nearest city 😅

Considering I prefer to have something brand new that I know has not been smashed around by someone who doesn't take care of their things, and I got my kindle on sale for $100 with the case.....nah I won't buy things like this used. Things I will buy used: Clothing, physical books, kitchen utensils like plates and glasses etc.....never technogy.

Just make sure it's hardware isn't damaged and if the battery works to its full capacity (for that, check the specifications of that model on internet). In short, just check if many of the features from specifications list work.

I agree unless you are someone who wants to read near water (in the bathtub, swimming pool, beach.) The reason is that you don't know the history and thus cannot be sure that if you are buying a device with water resistance, how much resistance is left. If you are not going to do any of that. I agree, buy second hand!

This is just the basic kindle paper white. I bought it a couple years ago so you should be able to get this one even cheaper than I said in the video

Also, Kids ones are good too. Amazon Kids devices are the base device with a kids case (Echo/Echo Pop is design), a year of Amazon Kids+, no ads (to remove them, it's $15), and if you break it, they will replace it for 2 years. ALL your Amazon devices should just be them. On sale, they're WAY cheaper!

Just because you don't see damage doesn't mean it isn't damaged. Plus older versions may not have a feature a buyer wants. Then they have to pay more than they would if they had just bought the new one. Cheap isn't always the best answer when it comes to tech.

I have an old Paperwhite (6. Generation) and I‘m still so happy with it. Only thing missing is the Dark mode but that‘s not worth spending the money for. I usually use my tech until it falls apart or its software dies on me. Of course I very occasionally update if a new functionality is worth it. But that doesn’t happen too often.

A quick question. I have like around thousand ebooks in Epub version. If I buy a kindle device , will I be able to use them in that device. If it needs to be changed into another format or something, will it be practical with the whole lot.. ?

You might be able to fit them all on there. In terms of epub format, it should work but if not you can use a a free program like Cailbre to convert them to AMZ ebook format

@@asianstud7 I should have explained better since people like your kind would show up. In Peru a Kindle is way higher than in America, I was lucky there was a used Kindle in good condition in the marketplace. Go on keep looking comments to say lol

My Kindle Touch 10th geberation keeps skipping pages after some time. I have tried to manually update the software and hard reset many times, but the problem keeps coming back
