Great quick presentation Frank. I’m 56 and not as computer literate as I like to be. Also since dealing with TBI it has been quite challenging at times retaining some information. I currently using an iPhone XS Max for most of my research for things I need to learn and I have been reluctant to spend on a new phone or laptop. So it was such a blessing to come across your channel and learn about the tips you shared on what I can do with a smartphone. I’m going to track down the items you posted in the description and give it a try. At least either way if the setup works or doesn’t it won’t be a big expense. Thank you again.

I hope it works for you. The little keyboard is worth having handy even if it turns out that you don’t use it as a full-time setup. I find that if I need to type longer work on my phone - the little keyboard makes it much easier.

Even tho I'm I fan of the concept as I do use my phone with a keyboard and mouse and external display, I would hate to do it on iOS. My setup includes Galaxy S10+ with Samsung Dex, A BT Mouse and Keyboard from Logitech with built-in stand, A USB hub, a Type-C to USB A convertor, a regular USB mouse and keyboard and an external display with few SSDs and USB Drives. Dex is amazing, considering you can run full linux os inside Android using a termux, a VNC Viewer and an app like Andronix to copy and paste installation scripts, with Dex, that Linux experience is desktop like - minus the sound (possibly works but I didn't bother to). I use it to run GIMP (Photoshop open-source alternative) and work on python projects.

Great set-up. My Android devices have aged out - so I’m looking forward to buying some new ones once this channel grows! - haha That said, the over-all concept of lower-powered devices being used to connect and be productive is something I think we can do across platforms - it’s amazing how versatile the mobile devices are and how we can extend their use in new ways. I look forward to creating some videos on the Android environment once I have more up-to-date equipment myself.

Well performed. I’m conducting the same research about phone productivity. Could a smartphone replace a notebook, the answers is, most of times. First we have to stop call this little computer a “Phone”, this thing stayed in the past with Jobs presenting his brand new mobile device. Today, “phones” or “smartphones” are truly PCs with a new kind of input experience, they may not been built to be used on desktop mode, but they can perform like a desktop as well, if you are open to a new user experience of course. Application is the highlighted viewpoint, you can perform all kind of tasks on your “mobile PC” including thing that were possible on laptops only, like video editing or photoshop. Of course you will need some auxiliary devices like keyboards, monitor and mouse, btw you are using applications that requires those tools to be handled correctly.

I use this all the time now with samsung dex and Google cloud compute....this is a game change honestly and makes you wonder why you would need to pay for a new device upfront specially if the need to use a full OS is not as often. There is a lack of support of external hard drives to backup data offline but I hope this will he fixed in the near future. Also I find google cloud compute is easier to understand for layman like me compared to azure virtual desktop. I watched one of your other videos on how to build a cloud PC on azure but digging more into it, there were some difficulties trying to setup firewall rules....I am trying to learn about that now. Nevertheless, thanks for great content...please keep up the good work teaching people about cloud computing cause I think this is the future....cheers!!

@Josh C correct. I also discuss that in the video. It’s a solution that meets many needs - it’s not going to do absolutely everything in the world. Hopeful, this comes across in the video. It’s not a gaming PC, it’s not a development platform. It’s great for on-the-go writing, web access, and more.

I might be working on a cruise ship soon and of course I won't be able to take my desktop monster with me. So now I've got several different options... 1. Just using my phone as there will probably be computers that staff can use and most things can be and are done on a phone anyway 2. Rebuilt my very old first laptop (I'm talking 8-10 years). I know it can run windows 10 as is but it needs a new keyboard, battery (though I wouldn't necessarily need that), ram upgrade to at least 8 gb and an SSD. I calculated it once and I believe it was around 100-150€ for parts though I could probably reuse my desktops SSD e.g. . 3. Would be your portable solution which makes sense as I usually rock a flagship phone anyway 4. Buying a new/ used laptop. Thing is WiFi on those ships is expensive and sucks meaning "gaming" is out of the picture. All cabins are equipped with a tv though which I assume will have HDMI support (not sure if that can be accessed though). It's probably wise to maybe just get a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard as well as an adapter for possible connection to a tv. Depending on the cost of a portable monitor I might just get one anyway.

I use my android smartphone to access home desktop machine (Win10 Pro) through RD client. Demonstrated KB is something which seems useful. Yes, I do face issue when using finger tip on the mobile screen as a mouse pointer (especially, when I need to drag an object). It needs little bit of practice in the beginning to be familiar. Unfortunately, the Assistive Touch (which is how you get a mouse to work in IOS 13+) does not have actions for things like a “right-click” and such. There are some interesting changes that were just announced yesterday - at the Microsoft Inspire Conference. There is a new service called Windows 365 coming out in August - I am interested to see how it works on iPads and iPhones.
