just starting to get into fly fishing and am starting to realize that the barriers to entry seem a lot higher than other styles of fishing.

I live in in TN and its very hot in the summer but there is lots of trout in the streams, since the water is cold and flowing from the Appalachians, so I didnt think I need waders you know, just doing the relaxing water shoes and wet wading in these clear rivers, but then I realized that there are bugs that bite really fucking hard, called: deer flies, supposedly they rip chucks out of deers and the meat looks like a pencil tip, so fuck that! When it bit I had some pain from the holes in my skin, so I opted for waders, thankfully! Although there are certain times when those fuckers don't harass all the kids swimming, usually in the spring! But yeah, got to be careful everywhere, waders are alot more disease proof incase of flesh eating bacteria.
