So you, me, and G-man far as I know on KZfaq have pointed this out on jigs, is the weed guard having to much gap. As a matter of fact G-mans ball’en out jigs are amazing because of this problem fix with the weed guard. I’ve never had a problem with hookups with Jigs. But glad you pointed out the hook gap for sure. If anyone is interested I’ve did a video a month ago on weed guards on jigs on my channel Fishing With Faith Outdoors. Love the channel bro! Keep up the good work! We are learning from each other, tho I have a fishing channel we have different audiences, so sharing each other’s experiences helps my fishing along sharing it with my viewers.

If you trim a weed guard it stiffens it so you can miss some hook ups.

I think at times it is just gonna happen with a jig and there is not a ton to do. When my jigs get hung I always snap the line a few times and sometimes the pops the jig off

I want to like jigs sooo much but I've only caught 1 fish in my life on a jig...and that was a micro finesse keitech so it really wasn't even a classic jig. I like the style of fishing but man I have zero confidence in them because I've never caught fish on them. I"ve watched how-to videos, I've dedicated entire fishing trips to them, etc. Just not my thing I guess

A good weed guard will help keep that fish stay pinned too during hooksets.

I disagree about the weed guard. The shorter the hook size and weed guard, the stiffer the weed guard becomes (by leverage and physics). I had a guy make me 3/8 Arkie style jig heads with a 6/0 Gammy wide gap. I just bend the weed guard down to the hook point, and spread it out a little or in a "V". More weedless and much better hookup percentage for me.
