i got an M1 macbook pro but bought it with RAM upgraded to 16 GB (costed an extra $200). My life has been absolutely fine since 2 years, with graphic or whatever usage. absolutely no need to upgrade to M2 pro, bro!

@@programming6063 It always stays cool. I can program on it no issues. The M1 chip having 16bg memory is like 32 standard on windows id say. The real question is though if you will like the 13 inch screen. It works for me.

Agreed! When going over the specs and performance, it is still a top tier laptop 2 years later. A Geekbench 5 CPU multi-core score over 12000, a large bulk supply of GPU cores, 120hz screen refresh rate, near 4k display resolution, a great 1080P web camera, amazing battery life, and Dolby audio that helps with music and web camera sound.

@@etywrtyjfgj hey, fellow programmer here. So i'm still on the fence about choosing between 15inch M2 mac air 24GB and 14inch M2 mac pro 32GB. Now I know the obvious choice, go pro if you want more power, but I just really prefer them sexy design and the lightness of the M2 Mac Air. My main concern is: Is overheat going to be a problem? And Is 24GB ram not enough? I mean, I saw some reviews and people said it was fine, but i'm still not convinced yet. For context, I mostly do Python (Django) programming, I will probably have 6-7 Docker containers on my desktop (redis, mysql, mongo, etc...)

RAM used with no apps opened is very high at 4.8GB. that leaves only 3 GB for the apps. This would slow down the multitasking due to swapping - and that too on a slow SSD. Docker desktop itself needs 5GB RAM. Also, M2 heats up a lot compared to M1.

Kids don't get munipluated. He doesn't use heavy software like Adobe After Effects, Blender, or Unity (he does basic editing). When you will be abroad, you will feel very lonely getting into online gaming help. worried about weight? Look at the 14-inch options like the Zephyrus G14, Razer Blade 14, and Alienware x14. talking about the coding part I took CS150 Freshman year. I setup VSCode and tried code block, but unfortunately, I didn't like. for C I switched to Ubuntu. You can dual boot with a Windows laptop. Look for the latest generation, either Intel 13 gen or AMD 7000 series. Remember one of his videos past year when he got sponsored by X company? He was talking about the good side of a Windows laptop. Take your decision wisely.

@@redblueb7ack If you are using it for basic purposes, get yourself a Ryzen 5 7000 series-based laptop. Even without a dedicated graphics card, you can do a lot of things if you are specific about your budget. I can suggest you better.

I own a MacBook Pro 16 inch 2019 and works like a beast still no issues and no RAM or processor issues and as a developer I open a lot of things which would otherwise make m1 MacBooks heat up due to no fans in AIR so and it’s up to you which one you would like to prefer cause at last you will be the one to use, cause if you are a heavy user and have a greater budget I would prefer you to go for pro, due to heating and throttling issues.

@@Assassin_610 Yes, i too agree that MacBook pro 2019 can handle those tasks pretty efficiently. The only thing i am worried about is that now macos sonoma will only be available for MacBook pro 2018 and later so it means the 2019 MacBook will have the latest Macos for the next 2years. Xcode requires the latest macos version for the latest iOS version support. This is my main concern.

If you’re expecting it to run Vision OS simulator and SDK you might find difficulties with it. Go for M2 16GB, 512 GB atleast for a much future proof version. Because Swift UI makes stuff really intensive.

NO. Go for 16gb minimum. docker will take 2-4 gb, android studio 2-4 and emulator for sure 4gb even if you configure it to use 1.5.

for future proofing andd the best peformance, I would highly recommend the 16gb variant. I have an 8 gb windows laptop with decent specs an i5 11th gen and the ram holds me back a lot of times. From my experience, 16gb ram would just be a one time investment that you won't regret

Yes. Did production MERN app in a 2015 MacBook Pro 16gb I have for years. Just get the Apple chip instead of old Intel chip instead and make sure it's 16gb.

Yes it will. Major difference between m1 pro and air is the absence of fan. But from my experience I can assure that the mac won’t go to higher temperature for app development. Using M1 Mac Pro for last two years for app development. Fan triggered only 3-4 times in these years.
