Thanks for the update. I found this and I was like this is what I need for my storm chasing stuff....... checked out their site. They have 1 in stock and open box at that. Guess I'll keep moving forward with a dedicated tablet

I ordered one for my 15 gmc Sierra and after waiting a few days for a tracking number, I called them and was told they were waiting on their supplier in China to ship. I told them to cancel my order because they shouldn’t be selling products that they don’t even have in their warehouse. Took a few days and several emails but finally got the order canceled and full refund.

Maybe I'm the only one, but touch screens are a pain in the @$$. You cant easily reach over and change the radio or controls without looking. Then having to use menus to get to normal functions like A/C, radio presets, etc. It looks cool, but the functionality... no thank you. The more physical buttons the better IMHO.

That is exactly what is keeping me away from getting one of these. I hate to start cutting stuff but I have the 2015 4" setup and at least want the 8" with Android Auto

I'm considering this for my truck because my OEM screen is dying and I'm guessing the prices are similar. Does the navigation voice still come over the truck speakers? Another demo I saw showed a separate speaker for navigation for some reason, but they didn't demo it working. Also is the radio audio quality still good? My truck has the Bose system and I don't want to give that up.

@@8180634 the radio quality is the same and I liked that it didn't change. The nav goes through that little speaker as well as the phone calls, which I didn't care for. The speaker isn't very clear sounding.

@@sean-rady thank you very much for the info. That might be a deal breaker for me as I use both of those features often and really like it through the truck speakers. I wonder what required them to use a separate speaker, there must be a design challenge there somewhere.

Hey, thanks for the warning. Was looking at these for my 2018 Canyon and am still on the fence. I mean its and electronic and can have defects but their customer service should have worked with you. Just curious were they offering to send out a new one for free but just wouldn't cover install charges? Also, as it relates to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, I have it in my truck currently, so did you need to buy the Built-in CarPlay and Android Auto for $40 or anything extra for that?

They did offer to send a new one. Correct, not covering the installation charge. Honestly, there are better products and companies out there for tech upgrades. Stay away from these guys.

@@jasonablah7702 I haven't looked at competitors. But for older vehicles, you could look into an fm transmitter for music and phone calls, and for navigation and other apps, a tablet with a center console mount.

I have one and it is garbage ! So many glitches and the worst glitch is that powers on by itself can get sound out of apps 95% of the time. So for the most part i just use the console factory tab

Yes, that's what happened to me. A friend of mine introduced me to his unit and the product and he says he still enjoys it and doesn't have any issues.

A tablet is a poor UI for a vehicle. They need a purpose built UI to make it good. For the limited screen space they sure abuse it with menus and headers and footers. They need a UI/UX dev to clean this all up.

Has anyone been able to override the factory tone settings? The tablet has an equalizer, sound settings such as rock, jazz...ect, and bass boost but they do nothing. 2016 colorado with bose (crappy stereo)

I realize this is an old video, and you had a bad experience. I love to tinker and may get one just to mess around with it. I've seen others and know about the canbus sync issues, resetting shouldn't be a problem Though, in every video no one talks about Sirius satellite radio, does it but work with this unit? If it does, do I need to reprogram my account with it? I realize I'll have Pandora, Spotify, etc, but on long trips having sat radio is a good backup

I believe it does! Just log in and it plays through the internet.

I think it is either pre loaded or you can download. It's basically a tablet. It's been so long I can't remember.

Not 100% sure as I have android tech. I have since removed the unit due to glitches and technical difficulties the company couldn't rectify.

I made the video after installation prior to any issues. Shortly after using it for a week, I got the black screen of death. I tried rebooting it, resetting it, re-coding it... hours of troubleshooting with Phoenix automotive, all for them to tell me the unit was defective and it had to be returned. I had to fight for a full refund. They did not reimburse installation I paid to have the unit in. So now I leave the video up to show folks what it's like to have a working unit, but have now changed the title in efforts to warn buyers. Any suggestions on what you think a good title would be?

Because rather then him using it for a while then doing a review, he did the review right away. The company offered to replace it and he still bad mouths them. I have watched videos on installs in mustangs and they love theirs. He bitches because they wouldn't cover the install and that's not up to them. It is to be a DIY and him paying someone is not their responsibility.

Honestly man? I took it out of my truck and returned it after several weeks of a black screen that never re-setted. Their customer service was absolutely horrible. I could go into more detail of you'd like...but just stay away from this company.

No offense man but your opinions needs to be taken with a grain on salt. The unit was PLUG AND PLAY! Anyone whos going to pay to have something plug and play installed honestly shouldn't be buying it in the first place. The more advanced something is the more problems it will have. Tech comes at a cost. These units are more for techys who can diagnose things them selves. Lastly? You didnt get a "Black Screen of Death". Its a known issue with all android head units. What happened was the canbus was knocked off sync. All you had to do was get behind the radio unplug the radio and the canbus for 2min and then plug it back in. You whould have been good to go after this. Had you installed the unit yourself you would have found this to be an easy feat. Its happened twice on my brothers unit in 2 years. Fixed it just like this both times. You should really be a techy to buy these units. They are not really for the common consumer IMO

I appreciate the comment, wish you would've mentioned this when I was still trouble shooting, your one comment was more helpful than all of Phoenix's customer support combined! The unit was defective though. The programming on the back end some how got deleted and they ended up sending me a drop box file to download on a USB, then I had to plug that into the unit USB ports, then do a hard reset, and even after recoding the entire device, it still didn't work. I did the install with my friend and was hands on the entire time watching the install. Which made it easy to remove when they determined the unit was defective and I had to remove it for shipping.

And I submit this to you in regards to your plug n play opinion.. if folks aren't familiar with cars and how the dash and the components are put together, it can be nerve wracking and difficult to disassemble a radio unit that is simply "plug n play".

@@sean-rady Honestly Im sorry you had to go through this and its was very unfair to you. I wish units like these all had a disclaimer on them. Is the companys fault for making them sound simple. They should all say "These units are best suited for techys who are capable for trouble shooting their own devices. They are not well suited for common consumers" Whats even worse is when the common consumer calls customer service they have to speak to someone where English is their second or even worse 3rd language! Sadly man your problem was never your unit. It was the canbus which is an external device that connects to your unit and is what talks to the car. This is why the recoding did nothing. Had you reached a normal english speaker in their company they would have sent you a new canbus or simply told you how to trouble shoot that.

@@sean-rady As you have already learned. To say android head units are "finicky" is an understatement. They are highly complex in a way with a lot of features. Said features come at a cost. "finikyness" is the cost. This is why your Kenwoods and your pioneers feel so simplistic when compared. That simplistic system brings stability! Android head unitis are just like phones. They need updates. This can be very daunting to the common consumer.

Not sure what you mean by lose features. If installed correctly all of the default radio and AC controls work with no issues. I have it installed and everything works so far.
