If the advice is not to buy a Submariner from an AD then why would you buy one for more lolly on the grey?

Because the ADs are still playing games with lollipop suckers. Basically they need you to spend 20-30k on other junk to “allocate” you one. They are hoarding them in safes; for now😂

The way he says it is that they are 9K retail. The cheapest he can find is £8.4 which gives you a £600 immediate loss if purchased at retail. If you purchased the same watch from GMG it would be a substantially greater loss. Sounds like he cut off his nose to spite his face with that statement for a slow seller on the grey market. They are most likely slow sellers because they are currently overpriced.

Watch market is like the mortgage market, don’t try and time the market. Buy what you like & don’t follow trends/grey dealers.

Not really: if you would,have bought John Mayer Daytona 1 y ago you would have waisted 30k..so especially on watch you need to time the market. Is not a stock

If you’re only buying one Rolex sport buy the Submariner (no date) and enjoy a lifetime of wearing it and never having to doubt your purchase. Otherwise the 40mm Explorer 2 is great and so is the 36mm Oyster Perpetual… with a basic dial and indexes.

The "anywhere in the world" is a bit of a mute point if you're a UK buyer. The import fees pretty much negate any saving you might make and for most of these watches, probably make them more expensive than new. The cheapest 126610LN I could see on Chrono at the moment, 2024 full set, £10805. Taking away 2024 from the search dropped the price by roughly a grand. Naked watches were about £9K...Where did you find one for £8400?

Have to agree the grey market in the UK has the market sown up. As leaving Europe has cost buyers dearly in the UK, the grey market is capitalising on the this.

Agree on this, global prices aren’t all that relevant in this discussion. WHO is realistically buying from Asia in the UK for a watch?

Most likely where the grey people are capitalising is by buying grey imports. Watches purchased outside of the UK and then not declared for taxes upon importation. Gives them an even greater profit margin.

Another great video guys. Always like your content. I've never had an issue with my AD. I bought an Omega for my 50th in October 22. Dec 29th i just walked in to say hi. And walked out with the Silver Snoopy. Couldn't believe my luck. 3 months later, I got an Explorer ll polar dial. I'm now just waiting on my Batman.

@gmgwatches Mines in Australia. Ive got to know the owner, i go in regularly just to chat. First time I went in shorts, t shirt and full body suit of Tattoos. Never judged me at all. All the staff are awesome. And they love chatting and showing watches to my 2 daughters.

Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MaMaCoo I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.

Stay away if you want to flip for profit or stay away because they are worth what you pay? Happy to buy a Rolex I want and pay retail as long as it’s not a precious metal version that is thousands under RRP. Then I’d go grey market.

Smurf white gold won’t do well cos looks like a S/S and as we all know most people buy Rolex’s to flex so ain’t no point in that unless you genuinely like the watch.

The smurf goes for well over it's original list price. I think you are trying to say blueberry as that goes under its list price.

I have a good relationship with my SA at my AD and we laughed on how hard it was to sell a white gold sub, it took like 4 months and that was before the price hike of 4%, it will be 100% impossible to sell it without a discount now, white gold oyster flex sky dweller is another AD nightmare.

If you like the watch and want to wear it (as all watches should be) then buy it and enjoy it. Unless you can make a huge saving of a few thousand on the grey market. All of my pieces tend to go for over RRP so I just buy them from the AD. Not in any hurry to spend over list at a grey market dealer. Stock is coming back - I bought a GMT Master II Zombie from the AD window whilst walking past just over a month ago and spotted an AD abroad with over 110 pieces in stock.

@@Andy-ys8sj Hope so! Maybe that was Rolex's plan - let the stock come back and then let customers flock back with discounts (I.e. discounts they can afford to give if they intentionally put the prices up)

I got a 126233g the gold and diamond dial Rolex and I paid $14k and change from my AD. It was a 40th birthday gift from them to me lol. They allowed me to buy it. It’s hard to sell so they called me like happy birthday! You want the watch?😂 first time they ever called me and I’m on the list and bought 4 Tudors new from them. I love the timepiece though. It blings.
