In 1976 (America’s bicentennial), we parked at the Pentagon parking lot, and bicycled across the Potomac River and spent the fireworks at the base of the Washington Monument. Truly something we have never forgotten, us and a million others. Pretty cool display of fireworks. Took us a couple hours to get home, about 15-20 miles, traffic was insane.

The 30 or even 40 year fixed mortgage is very unique to the USA most of the rest of the world is like Canada 5 year adjustable rate or something else short-term.

Didn't know that about the mortgages in Canada. We've got 15, 30,and 40 year mortgages in the USA just stay away from adjustable rate mortgages.

Five years and you have to renew your mortgage?............whaaaat?, that in itself needs to go away, Straighten out the government first and then have go after the banking industry, and the government agency that allows that to happen. That would never be tolerated in the USA.
