If locs are well maintained, and the transition from loc'd to not is intentional, I think hair is HEALTHIER after a life of locs

While it technically isn't permanent it takes months to comb out and it looks bad while you are

@@notaaronpitts6671locs don’t take months to comb out.. it only takes like a couple days depending on how many locs you have and how long your hair is

We decided to do the silk press so that she could get the perfect trim! No worries afterwards, there will be not more heat applied to the hair!

I had locs for a year then combed them out. I tell ppl all the time that are thinking about locs to just do it. You can always comb them out and they actually tend to be a good protective style that allows you to retain a lot of length.

My daughter had a scalp condition which contributed to her hair falling out so we had to do the big chop. She wanted to experiment with locs so we all loc’d our hair (me +hubby+brother) fast forward 3 years later and she wanted them combed out, we did that (took a month) and her hair is flourishing. Locs are the best thing that happened to my daughters hair! Healthy hair after locs is definitely possible. It actually restored confidence in my daughter, we’re grateful for that journey!

I love this video! I combed my locs out and got a silk press to get the “damaged ends” removed… 1 year later, I’m on my 4th set of locs❤ I’ve never cut my locs out, always combed them. Matter of fact my profile pic was the silk press right after my locs. My hair was super healthy, & still is! & im posting my first retwist video tomorrow! Your baby hair looks fabulous, great job mama ❤ oh and you’re in Houston! So good to know! 😊

It’s someone on KZfaq who had locs just like your baby, for like 12 years and comb them out - her hair looks just as long and healthy as your daughters. Let them think what they want to sis . I have combed out my locs twice, both 5 years old and have had a healthy head of hair after both sets. Idk why people doubt what they don't understand from experience

That’s wonderful. When you were loc’d what retwist method did you use? I started with interlock than transitioned to palm rolling and I’m worrried I may have soo many knots

Oops too late lol. Cut mine all the way off yesterday. But mine were bleached and it’s just better to start fresh. Now, if they were never bleached, I most def would have combed them out. Great job on your daughters hair

Blessings Queen...I've had my locs for 13 yrs and been thinking about removing them in the near future. However, I been researching & I knew I didn't want to just cut them off. I've been reading up on the comb out method. But been in search of a salon or a trusted professional to help me in the transition. I definitely would be willing to travel to where you are. But I have a few questions about the transition & the process. Love this video & thank you for educating us all. Absolutely beautiful 😍

I know mine would have been but I got itchy and bleached it 2 years in and then dyed it a year later. I think it’s fine but I’m fine with cutting it into a bob if need be.

When I took my locs out it had length if you take care of your locs and use conditioner while taking them out you won’t shed a lot at all it’s all about taking your time a lot of people don’t feel like doing all that and just cut them off it takes time ! I’m on my third set of locs !

Definitely not the norm. Sis is young, has very dense hair follicles which is why she has a high volume of hair. Imagine what it looks like without any hair loss from the loc takedown. 😯

Thank you so much lovely!! I used suave naturals conditioner.. literally from family dollar or heb.. you want to use a cheaper conditioner since you’re going to need so much of it AND make sure that it has a lot of slip to it! But products and treatments only matter after everything is combed out!

This is amazing! I would think it would be so broken and damaged. I got Microlocs 2 months ago with bra strap length hair. Prior to getting them I would always keep my hair steamed and moisturized which is how I was able to grow my hair to long lengths. I want to know if microlocs can be combed out since you are getting them knotted aka retied every so often?

Omg...I chose not to retwist for 9 months and was 1 week away from chopping my locs off...I wish I'd just combed them out. My new growth is week from carrying the heavy locs...I wonder if it's redeemable 🤔🤔

Now I did see the lady's face from the beginning of the video when she was showing her locs but I wanted to see the person's face at the ending of the video when she got the silk press to make sure it was the same person, because she had her back and she didn't turn around so we can see the front of her head so we can make sure she was the same person and not someone they switched out
