Krabs couldn't accept the trauma of losting a penny, even though Patrick was just delusional and imagined that, so then the cheap old crustacean took his own life after suffering with depression for months, Spongebob eventually had a mental breakedown after losting his friend and his boss that he eventually developed depression as well, Patrick still manages to help him, in his own delusional and childish way.
