I doubt that people who are f2p or light spenders will ever rather buy dupes from the shop rather than more chances for a new shiny character from the limited banner with the exceptions being favorite characters but even then, I still think that getting limited pulls with the coral is the best thing to do, unless of course they make getting duplicates super overpowered, which would suck.

Here’s the thing though, duplicates are simply not worth the same as getting new characters, ESPECIALLY in the early game. It’s much better to get those pulls, get more characters, then once you have a good amount of characters you can go for copies. Also, using astrite on the standard weapon banner is perfectly fine. The standard weapon banner is the only way to get those weapons (since there is no 50/50 on limited weapon banner), AND you’re able to pick which weapon you get. Sure you get lustrous tides from the game normally, but if you want the standard 5 star weapons, go for it.

Honestly though, spending afterglow coral on more tides isn't really the end of the world. Currently, you can buy duplicates for the equivalent of 45 tides, which not only builds your pity towards the next 5 star, but also gets 4+ 4 stars. As long as you _really don't care whether you get duplicates of the banner character (this is important!)_ it's not a terrible decision to turn your coral into tides, since if you get a 5 star with it, great! You've either set up your guarantee for the next character or you got a duplicate for less corals than buying it from the shop _and_ got some other items from pulling. If you didn't get a 5 star, that's fine too because your goal wasn't to get a duplicate in the first place. All in all, there's no rules to what you can and can't spend your currency. Everyone plays the game for different reasons, so just be smart with your summons. If you're not sure what you want to do, sleep on it first and see how you feel the day after. And if you're still unsure, then don't pull; there will always be reruns if you change your mind.

This is just bad advice, sorry. The duplicates, especially of limited 5-stars, are really expensive. Don’t forget that the equivalent in pulls will get you more ‘refunds’ AND 4* units/weapons along the way. It’s really not worth it, imo, also because you can only get duplicates, so it’s a whale thing anyway. F2P’s and low spenders are better off spending this on (limited banner!) pulls.

I saw the duplicates, I understood, but I’m more focused on at least one copy of the five star I want. And if I am able to, I will buy a duplicate. But it is unlikely. Edit: What I mean is that I would rather focus on getting characters I want rather than making my current characters stronger. I want them to be strong, but just strong enough to do what I need to. Is pretty nuts about being able to get limited 5star "constellations" if you save enough. Game almost insentavises the player to save for patches. I'm saving a bit before I go for a limited unit.

You won't ruin your account. Don't fall for these scary KZfaqr words. The worst you can do is delay your progress to endgame. As a veteran genshin player I can safely say that characters don't matter in the end. Even if you make all these mistakes. Just play the game often and everything will be fine eventually. Characters also will be rerun. They won't be gone for ever. And you will get unlimited asterite over the years of doing events. Especially if kuro remains more generous than hoyoverse.

With experiencing it myself, even if the tip is kinda outdated, you can use the blue corals to buy the pulls because the corals to buy character dupes are different from the other one

It's more important to pull more characters so you can make at least one strong team (tower actually needs three teams). So, buying duplicates for corals is awfully wrong in the beginning.

Gettings duplicated in endgame is better coz until then your most resonators would be R6 (c6 for genshin players). But in early games, you can get multiple constellations of 4 star characters, so it's better not to save for those duplicates. Sure you can buy them after you get multiple 4 stars

After the beginner banner all standard banner pulls should be used on the weapon banner. You have a choice 5*, you have a 50 pull 5* and a select. Additionally you get them from losing 50/50s. Other than the beginner banner always spend on the weapon banner. I'd argue with the free ticket 5* that requires no pulls that after the 50 pulls random 5* never touch the beginner or standard character banner. Weapons are really important.

270 corals for duplicate?! 3 for each 4*(if we dont count excessive ones)... And its... 90 4*, or 900 pulls in worst scenario💀

These are preferences, not tips. And not following them won't "ruin your account." If you already have a 5 star you really like and really want to increase it's rank, then use coral on wavebands. If you don't care about ranking anyone up but there's a shiny new character coming out that you really want, use coral on it's banner currency. Asterite should be used the same way. Go for what looks FUN. Because it's a video game.

The problem with min maxing your account is it takes the fun out. People said “don’t pull on standard banners” in Genshin but I spent $500 on the standard banner cause I wanted Jean and Keqing , the odds of me pulling them on a limited at the time were worse because of the extra 5* and the increased chance for that 5* . Point is , at the end of the day if you play a gacha figure out what characters you like or want to play and just have fun. Edit: before the comments roll in , yes I spent money , and no I don’t regret it. Nor do I care about your opinion on being ftp or not. Before quitting Genshin a year ago my total money spent since launch was $800 , for Genshin standards I’m not even a dolphin
