Amazing! I coach a few guys that need to see this.... I was wondering if you would do a breakdown on strategies to employ in drop offs?

It’s on the agenda. Thanks 🙏

Thanks mate for providing clear explanation for defence attitudes, often players want to compete 100% of the ruck. This video clearly shows why the all-compete policy is not effective!

Thank you. I appreciate it 😊

I'm happy to see there is no milky of penalties in this situation. Much better to watch.

100% agree.

third example… forward pass after roll ball 😮
@touch.screen6 ай бұрын
You would be surprised how many of those are not called. Probably due to the mental focus on the referees being somewhere they believe to be more important

I am a referee… one thing is when that happens at middle field, other thing is when it happens on last 7/8/9/ meter and it’s a try…

second example: roll ball was completely not square and also not properly done… it kills the play 😊
@touch.screen6 ай бұрын
So many of these let go also in the modern game. Hence why people take the risk and push the boundaries of what they can get away with

I know a lot of referees (more than 30) that would call it as not being good 😊

Hard contact was made on the shoulder before the ball was placed on the ground. An argument can be made that the play the ball wasn’t completely square because of the push

I am still waiting to see a single successful dominate touch in this video (O.O) they all attempt and fail to make a dominant touch imo. Not trying to be rude love your content and agree with your assessment. 0:33 he 'attempts' to make a dominant touch and fails he clearly misses and is actually dominated by the attacking player who slaps his arm away so a mix of strength and agility. If he was faster i don't think the play would of worked at all. Next at 1:53 what attacking player does really well again to get under the arms of the defender and then continues to the side of the defender so again i would say this is a failed dominate touch. With a dominant touch you need to bounce off of the attacking player so you actually end up going back faster then the attacking one in a strait line it is however very hard to "pull corner" or w.e u guys call it run sideways i used to get caught out on this actually till i figured it out. 3:40 again there is no dominate touch this is because the attacking player actually dominates the touch by initiating the contact first in all cases the attacking players have made the touch before the defender. I dno if the last one is easy to see but you can see the attacking player slaps the defenders arm out of the way 'winning the ruck battle' and gets to the defenders side rucking is a battle of agility all three defenders lost that battle. I could be wrong :) love your content.

I think the point of this is showing the risk you take making a dominant touch on the line as opposed to the midfield. When you talk about winning the ruck as a defender, it comes down to whether or not you think that is more important than giving yourself the best chance to get out of the touch. Me personally I am not trying to dominate a touch on the 7m as the way in which an attacker dumps the ball is different to the midfield. It is as you say a lot more common to fail at a dominant touch attempt on the line as the attacker is normally running at an awkward angle

It’s literally called “don’t do this”? If they were dominant and defending the line well I imagine the title would be different, possibly “do this”.
@touch.screen6 ай бұрын
When I coach teams I generally don’t want players trying to dominate a ruck while defending the line. Hence the title

@@touch.screen yes i agree with your assessment as i said. Thanks for the knowledge i think i love dominant touches a bit too xD i will adjust my strat.

@@maldarkangeldominate the midfield and you won’t have to worry about defending your line as much 👌

I noticed at Recent state cup that this was the case as previous years Id been sat on my ass a few times 😂. Ive played touch for well over 30 years now and Ive always thought the “dominant” touch was against the spirit of the game.
@touch.screen6 ай бұрын
I’m not a fan of it either. “Minimum Force” is in the rule book but we coach to literally use force in touches. Maybe a tweak of the interpretation
