A mental moron that has coasted through life on his rich family's money. While pretending to be working class. He's a great example of there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats politicians, but the voters have to think there is. He is Democrat's George W Bush. It's amazing how many people are fooled by his "If I dress like a bum and complain about wearing a suit to my job, I'm a man of the people" act.

As a handicap man myself, the way he explained the use captioning and how it has made him more empathetic and able to be a part participating member in the world again alone made me come to tears.. It was so moving just to hear someone that is a figure of power exposing his weaknesses, experiences of pain-depression and the same caliber of life experiences that I have had. Its truly moving and gives me a little hope in dark times like these. If I live in PA this man would have my vote,(being from FL trust me, I wish I did live in PA ALOT) We need more like him and that is an understate by any means

I was born with an auditory processing disorder and never knew help existed. Thanks for advocating for those of us with disabilities because so many people treat us like garbage and that we somehow deserve to be broken. Yeah it’s rough when the world is so centred around working for people without disabilities. Just taking care of myself is a full time job, I’ve never been able to work. And so because I’m not “economically productive” I’m treated as lesser, and what I actually do contribute to my community is ignored because it can’t be measured as money.
@WynterDragon

@@WynterDragon yeah I really hear you there. I’m autistic, and amongst my related sensory issues is difficulty with audio processing, I often struggle to decode what a person’s saying, especially if they have a strong accent that I’m not used to, so I’m quite interested in what disability aids John Fetterman’s been using. It seems like he’s using some app that transcribes what’s being said around him into subtitles/captions, if I’m understanding correctly. It’s very cool!

I'm currently in a hospital bed due to an emergency gall bladder kind of thing but my disorders didn't take a vacation to address the current thing. For instance, I have a light sensitivity that happened after a TBI. It's not highly unusual but the majority of people recover from it, I did not. So, I have to adjust my actions to avoid the pain and exist in the world. The worst of my symptoms come from overhead fluorescent lighting - hospitals are chock full of them - so I'm immediately exposed but figure that being in a hospital would be the easiest place to ask for a little help - warn me when they were going to be activated so I could shield myself, be aware of my issue & use them only when truly needed, and shut them off once leaving the room. You'd think I was asking for the moon! It got to the point some *had* to be doing it on purpose! I was hooked up to so many things (the operation didn't go smoothly) that it was impossible for me to flip a switch as I was nearly tied down. They had to do it as I couldn't. Have you ever had a flashlight in your eyes? It hurts, but this hurts 10x's or more worse (I'm guessing) it's like stabbing me in my eyes and then it causes an *awful* headache. All avoidable with the tiniest of effort - I mean, flicking a light switch? C'mon. Yet the pushback and petty bs over it has made this visit unnecessary extra painful. I don't get it. I know I'll never return to this hospital again. Most of the nurses are fabulous and try but they're overworked and all these "helpers" have to fill in. God forbid they have to take an extra step. They're literally hurting me at a very vulnerable time for something I have, don't want, can't get cured, etc. Sorry to run on but it's nuts and I'm living this prejudicial, destructive & easily avoidable ignorance to even the simplest adjustment at this very moment. it's so very disheartening. How is it acceptable to low-key torture a patient?

Back in the college, I lost count on the number of people who'd say "Just take an aspirin and move on" as though that's all it took. It absolutely amazes me the level of ignorance (deliberate and otherwise) that people have over conditions that can affect other people and regard others who are suffering as somehow less than human. I fully agree on Mr. Colbert's expert methodology. He always looks his guests in the face and talks directly to them. It's one of the things that has always made me respect him.

I don't have have a body that is droopy (except for my belly). But what has happened to me is that I have two major symptoms: 1) I have amazing vertigo. I would not wish being dizzy on my worst enemy. If I don't know where I am heading, I will take my cane. I can go to the grocery store without it because the parking lot is flat, but I do lean on the cart. 2) I hold a doctorate, so I have read a LOT! I can no longer really comprehend the written word. That sucks! I can't read books. I can absolutely read anything to you, but if you ask me what I read five minutes later, it is just not there. To compensate, I listen to many, many audio books (not the big thick books that I used to read). And Thank G_d for autocorrect while I type. This short paragraph took me much longer to write than a full page of my dissertation.

I'm from Pennsylvania. I had a massive stroke years ago, and several smaller strokes since that time. Especially when I get tired, I want to say something but the words don't come out. I know what Senator Fetterman is talking about. Fifteen years ago I tried to take my own life. I also know what he is talking about when he says don't harm yourself. When I was in the mental hospital they discovered the I am bi-polar type II. I got treatment for that and I am so glad I did. Seek help, my friends. There is hope...

This is BS and puts a stigma on people who are actually suffering from treatment resistant depression, as if they are not doing something right. There's a good chance you never had bipolar. It's possible that up to 80% of people being treated with anti-depressants are not clinically depressed. If depression goes away as easy as you say and "isn't likely to return" as you say, you were probably just going through normal human ups and downs. We live in a society where even people at the top of their game still reach for performance enhancing drugs. Depression is a lifelong disease, not simply being down due to normal life struggles.
