Today, let's ride the flip side of the Grand Canyon, exploring why you might wanna avoid the North Rim. Now, when it comes to the North Rim, it's a serenade of serenity, less polished than its Southern kin, with fewer folks wranglin' in the mix.
Firstly, if you ain't fond of a lengthy trail ride, the North Rim's a trek - a robust 250-mile journey from Vegas, 350 from Phoenix, or a good few hours from regional airports like St. George or Flagstaff. Accessibility's a head-scratcher.
Secondly, expect chillier temps, up to 10 degrees cooler, and drastic fluctuations, especially come sunset. It's a game of layers to keep the chill at bay.
Third, the hike to the river ain't no stroll - 14 miles and 6,000 feet elevation shift. It's for the physically ready.
Number four, that thin air at 8,000 feet can leave ya breathless. Take time to acclimate.
Five, it ain't a quick pit stop; a 45-minute drive just to reach the rim means dedicated time.
Six, plan those meals. Without reservations, you might find yourself on an involuntary fast.
Seven, capturing that epic photo can be tricky with the harsh midday sun.
Eighth, convenience - ain't no nearby airports, just a good ol' road trip.
Nine, no helicopter hoedowns here; the nearest runways require additional travel.
And ten, limited lodging options, so plan ahead.
Lastly, winter's a whole different ballgame - the park's a snowy wonderland with limited access.
Before you decide, swing by grandcanyonposse.com for travel deals galore, whether north or south. We've got lodges, tours, and all the fixins for an unforgettable adventure.
See ya on down the trail, my friend!

This channel's all 'bout the Grand Canyon, offerin' y'all tips once you're in the Canyon with must-see stops, watering holes, and places to rest along the way.
Me and my trusty steed, Jackpot, were explorin' the Canyon back in the 1800s, fell into a time-warp, and somehow ended up in the 21st century!
To top it off, Jackpot's spirit somehow got trapped in a contraption they call a "Jeep."
Weird, but true...
Cutting to the chase - to make a buck, I started guiding folks through GC. One day it was suggested, "You should start a KZfaq Channel!"
So, here we are!
We got videos that essentially act as trail maps from Las Vegas, Phoenix, Flagstaff, and more!🏜️
😍 All you gotta do is watch and check out GrandCanyonPosse.com if you wanna rope yourself some deals on tours, beds, adventures, and the best grub around these parts. 🤠

Well, howdy there, fellow adventurer! Ain't that the truth about the North Rim's charm? Hittin' the bullseye for those seeking solitude! Have you ever looking into exploring the Tuweap area with the Toroweap Overlook? Also on the North Rim, but way the heck out there. Now that's a hidden gem for sure. It's like findin' a gold nugget in a riverbed-rare and mighty precious! I reckon I'll be swingin' by that way myself soon enough, aimin' to capture the essence of that untouched beauty for the channel. Here's to us wanderers seekin' out the road less traveled and findin' treasures aplenty along the way!

@VisitingGrandCanyon Wow..just looked up Tuweep and it looks amazing!! Will have to add that to my bucket list. We don't have a trusty Jackpot to take us there...renting a car..lol. BFF trip early June circling Utah, threw in North Rim and Grand Basin. Lucky to get camping sites in the Bryce, Zion, GC North NP's. And found out yesterday we got Angels Landing permit! We will be doing GC overlooks and I want to venture as far as we reasonably can (for June) down Kaibab Trail. I'm watching your other videos. Great channel! Will check out your website too.

What a great channel! I prefer the North Rim, usually staying at Jacob Lake even in winter when the road to the Rim is closed. The Kaibab Plateau is simply beautiful and peaceful to hike through.

Visited N. Rim just after it opened in May 2017. The place was fantastic. We stayed at the lodge, and I literally reserved a room the moment they were available a year in advance. The accommodation was cramped and very rustic. That was the only negative. Visiting here takes some careful planning, but I highly recommend it.

Howdy, partner! Ain’t that the truth! The North Rim is a hidden gem that takes a bit of savvy planning to unearth. Snaggin’ a room at the lodge a year in advance shows some serious dedication, and it sure pays off with those incredible views. As for the rustic accommodations, well, reckon it’s all part of the charm, ain’t it? Thanks for sharing your experience and reminding folks that the North Rim, while a bit of a trek, is worth every boot-scuffed mile if it's your cup of cactus tea. Happy trails to ya! 🌄🌲

Fun video. All valid points. I did a solo road trip from Salt Lake City a few yrs ago in the fall. Came down 89 the whole way down to Kanab where I stayed the night. Next day cut over to Page AZ, checked out the dam and horseshoe bend, then headed down to the north rim. Must say the last hour from Jenny lake on was spectacular. Just spent a few hours at the rim walking the trails along the rim a bit. Fairly crowded considering it was during Covid but it was fine and still probably a lot less crazy than south rim gets. Glad I made the trek, and now I can say I’ve been to the Grand Canyon! I mean, if you’re driving from the north, it really doesn’t make sense to go to the south rim. And conversely, if you’re driving from the south, it doesn’t make sense to go to the north rim IMO.

Well, partner, sounds like you had yourself quite the adventure! From Salt Lake City to Kanab, then Page, Arizona, and finally to the majestic North Rim - that's a journey worthy of a cowboy's tale. You've experienced the rugged beauty of the Grand Canyon in a way that only a road trip can offer. And you're absolutely right - drivin' from one rim to the other ain't a small feat, so pickin' your route wisely makes all the difference. Though, I made a video all about a road trip from South to North Rim, and all there is to see in between. You should take a gander. Glad to hear you made the trek and soaked in the sights. Here's to many more epic adventures and tales to share around the campfire!

The Grand Canyon was quite possibly one of the biggest let downs of my life. I know I am in the minority and I hate it, but it just didn’t seem very impressive to me.

Howdy there, partner! I reckon it's a real shame to hear that the Grand Canyon didn't quite tickle your fancy. It's like that sometimes, ain't it? The world's full of wonders, but not every one of 'em speaks to us in the same way. Maybe next time, you'll stumble upon a sight that leaves you speechless and grinnin' from ear to ear! Don't let one letdown sour the whole adventure, amigo. Happy trails on your next escapade!
