I took over a SF orphan last year that had no 2024 first rounder. Mostly a team of aging, productive vets that needed to be moved while they had value. After a series of about 20 trades I've put together Caleb, 4 2025 firsts, 4 2026 firsts and a bunch of picks in between along with a heavy concentration of 2-4th round rookie dart throws. So yeah - I've traded for a few firsts haha.

The countering analogy to this is, show up to a business meeting in a suit with no socks and you may be looked at as a clown and lose the deal. The advice about chasing starts matters more in shallower leagues. But in leagues with 14 or more teams or leagues where you have to start 11 or more players each week the WAR of players like Addison and Cooper is certainly relevant. Not having enough of them will burn you in the end.
@PurePotentialFF
@PurePotentialFF Ай бұрын
Regardless of how large the league is, stars have a disproportionate impact and you are still better off trading replacement-level players away for 1sts when you have the opportunity.

Which side do you lean? 14 team, 1QB, start 7, non-PPR A: Marvin Harrison, Jordan Addison, 6x 25 1sts (2 early, 2 mid, 2 late), 26 1st B: Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Breece Hall, Deshaun Watson, David Montgomery, Geno Smith Gives a starting lineup of: QB - Watson Backup: Jayden Daniels, Geno RB - Bijan RB - Breece WR - Justin WR - Chase TE - Musgrave / Mayer Flex - Puka Flex backup - Montgomery Still have all of my own picks + extra 26 1st and 3x 25 2nds

Your videos rock! Last year was our startup. I fumbled that draft, sending me into a 2 year rebuild. I’m a very young roster with 3 25 1sts and 3 25 2nds but I’m still trying to accumulate picks. My TE room is McBride and Pitts, which makes me think I should move off one of them for a 1st+, but it also feels damn good to have 2 top 5 TEs. Should I try moving off one now, wait until it’s closer to season, or HODL.

Hey man. Love the channel. I was wondering if I could get a little help. Just started a dynasty league, and we just finished the start-up draft about a week ago. I was able to acquire a '25 1st & 3rd, and a '26 1st during the draft, while still accumulating what I see as solid talent. But I don't know exactly what I need to be doing before the season starts. I'm fairly weak at RB. I invested heavily in QB and WR early in the start-up draft. Didn't know if I should be looking at playing for the future? Or be putting some trades together for an elite RB, or something to boost my squad? Thanks man.
@PurePotentialFF
@PurePotentialFF Ай бұрын
Hey! It sounds like you’ve put together a pretty high-value roster with all those extra picks, so I’d definitely be aiming to compete right away. You could see about packaging one of those extra 1sts with a player for a star RB like Bijan or Hall. Or just piece it together by targeting guys like Henry or Mixon in that mid-2nd value range. Shop around and try to strengthen your starting lineup at the best possible price.
@michaelbittner7992

@@PurePotentialFF Thanks man. It's Superflex PPR. 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, 2 Flex & a SuperFlex. C.J Stroud and Brock Purdy are my QB's so I'm locked in at QB. And my WR's are Nabers, Tee Higgins, Hollywood, JSN, Calvin Ridley, Josh Downs, & Darnell Mooney. My RB's are weaker. Javonte, Brian Robinson Jr,, Mostert, Charbonnet, Antonio Gibson, Mattison, and Isiah Davis from the Jets. So potentially increase the RB room by trading a first? Or do you think I could potentially tread water with this group for the first 4-5 weeks based on the rest of the roster? Thanks! Sorry about the length of this!

Very nice content. Thanks, man. So few questions: would trade away D Henry for a 2nd rounder nxt yr ( I don't think any gm would give up a 1st round pick for an older RB). Would you hold on to S Moore since R Rice is out for few games? Makes sense to keep T Burks?
@PurePotentialFF
@PurePotentialFF Ай бұрын
Skyy and Burks are definitely droppable. Just depends on who's on the waiver wire.. I'd prefer a fringy RB like Rasheen Ali over both of them though. As for Henry, I don't think he's a must-sell for a future 2nd. If you have an overabundance of older players and the 2nd belongs to a more fragile roster, I'd be fine with it.

I just took over a orphan team with no first or second next year but they are a middle of the road team that should make the playoffs next year. It's always nice to have control of your picks in case things go south, but it's typically hard to get them back without paying a ton. If you think you can scrape together a competitive season without sacrificing future years, I'd probably just try to do that.

Hey there - just completed a start 11, 12 team PPR TE premium, superflex dynasty startup. I got 7th pick and ended up taking Burrow over JJ. Slightly regret it as it forced me to go Bijan and JT in the 2nd/3rd as best value (took JT over London/Aiyuk as best WR) Here's the rest of my starters. Any advice on how to trade into an S Tier young receiver? Or upgrade my last flex or Superflex? @PurePotentialFF
@PurePotentialFF Ай бұрын
I likely would have gone WR over JT, but you've still got a solid team there. I think your SF spot is fine with Watson and Geno--you handled QB perfectly. I prefer not to hold too much roster value in elite RBs, so my preference would be using Bijan or JT in a deal for a top-tier WR. But that's really just a personal preference. My main advice would be to remember that it's a long offseason and to not force a trade unnecessarily.

I was hoping Dionte Johnson or Christian Watson fell to me in the 10th but I had to settle for Jeudy, and while I have Watson and think Jeudy could be a top 25 receiver, I'm not sure how confident I am in it. 25 1st and 25 2nd for Evans, Barkley, Henry and then who cares about Keaton Mitchell. Who the hell would do that? Someone call the cops. You just robbed that man

Barkley/ Mike/ And Henry for one 1st round pick? 😂 what kinda rookies are you fleecing?

It definitely looks lopsided, but that manager is planning to rebuild. If they play their cards right, they're getting the 1.01 and 2.01. Those picks will certainly be worth more than the players are by next offseason.

Is waddle a replaceable player?
@PurePotentialFF
@PurePotentialFF Ай бұрын
No, I’d need more than a future 1 to trade him. His per route numbers and offensive situation suggest he’s capable of WR1 production, plus he has a lot of upside if Hill gets injured/eventually retires.

Yeah, I figured someone would point that out eventually. In hindsight, I should have given a more precise PPG cutoff for "replacement-level." Typically, there is little advantage in having a low-end RB1 vs an RB2.

10 man superflex league should I trade away my 25 1st and 2nd, 26 1st, Kmet, Kirk and Warren for Jjetta ? I have Lamb, Puka, odunze, Ladd, Watson and shaheed.
@PurePotentialFF

If you can withstand moving those pieces, I think I'd do it. Always great to acquire studs, especially in a 10-teamer. But first see if you can use Ladd or Watson instead of the 25 1st.
