The most glaring thing that Pyro skipped here sadly is the fact, that the intruder has been recreated as well, and he looks *way* more terrifying in the restoration. It's honestly the scariest bit next to the "Bad decision, Mark" segment in the new version.

I just noticed, Adam was watching a TV in a completely dark room whilst his mother is downstairs talking to his father on the phone. Was Adam subjected to a Toddler Stress Assessment video before Stanley decided to intrude upon his VHS? Because if you recall, the steps to prepare for the stress assessment was to put your child in a dark room with zero distractions, so they can only focus on the TV right in front of them.

7:50 The entirety of Marks lines have been redone, while Cesar's stay the same from the original. That is so cool to me, the bad voice acting from the original carries over to the new one to make Cesar seem even MORE uncanny than he already is. Mark seems much more human in his lines than Cesar does. I hate how I noticed it so quickly lol, I work with music composition and production, and small stuff like this is easily recognizable to me. I love this series so much

I still believe, that the part about the police being told to not respond is a troll by the alternates. I mean, it wasn't read aloud by the voice, which could mean it was added by an alternate. Also it would be helpful for the alternates, if the police and everyone else believed that you can not help someone who is being attacked by an alternate.
@Sway3421
@Sway3421 Жыл бұрын
I think the original first episode is the tampered video, as this one is labeled as being "restored" I think that this newer version is the version that was meant to originally be released to the people in Mandela county. This restored version didn't say " kill yourself" nor did it say " nothing is worth the risk" along with it not having the alternate face fuck the camera.

I like stuff like this cause this shows very clearly how much the creator has grown in their ability to create. Usually, for us not not in the craft, it's hard to tell that someone has improved, since the improvement is gradual and stuff that gets improved makes the whole thing better, but is often invisible to an untrained eye (that's why worldbudling in stories is important, you don't notice it and it's something you can completely overlooked, but the story feels way way worse if it suddenly missing.). I think more people should try to do what mandela catalog did, it's fun to watch as well. so, when is petscop 2 [remastered] or MLG teletubies [restoration edition] pyro?

I liked the alternate stick figures where the arms and head clip out of the video more than it is now. The whole point of it was that its something pretty incomprehensible which this drive home more, the new thing just feels better from our perspective now because the series has progressed and we know more about Alternates meaning theyre more comprehensible meaning the stick figure stuff isnt as "WOAH WTF" anymore.
@d00gz_
@d00gz_ Жыл бұрын
Yeah I enjoyed the series better when the danger was barely comprehensible, and stuff was uncanny and digitized. It very much had a Lovecraftian/Cosmic Horror aspect to it that I adored, where pretty much the only thing the characters and viewer knew about the threat was that it existed and was highly dangerous. Meanwhile they had no idea what it was, where it came from, and they barely even knew what it looked like. With the new episodes like this one, it does have better production value and is more visually impressive but the amateur “found footage” digital nature of the first Mandela episodes was what hooked me because of how unique it was stylistically and how everything had to be pieced together. Now it feels more cliche to me, and too many aspects of the series are being explained and rationalized. That’s just my opinion though. Pretty much every KZfaq or internet horror series has this happen eventually, it’s practically inevitable as a series goes on. Same thing happened to Monument Mythos for me.
@SpaceCat36
@SpaceCat36 Жыл бұрын
@@d00gz_ I honestly agree. While the production value is obviously higher, with voice-overs and new assets and what not, I feel like part of it, certain charm was lost in the process. The original had this feeling of this feverish nightmare, where the setting and elements seem familiar and maybe somewhat nostalgic, but there's something really perverted and wrong about them, something you can't put into words. The eerie sounds, that start as abruptly as they end, the amateurish quality, occasional schizophrenic line here or there, hell, even the old photos with cartoon like eyes has this really eerie quality about it that few other videos, games or books have. Some of them seem stupid or laughable when taken out of context (sometimes within context too), but with some immersion and imagination it really scratches some part of the brain that will make falling asleep at night a bit more difficult. The fact that little is explained really contributed to the experience, since the horrors beyond human comprehension is always scarier than any screaming meat popsicle on legs. Sh*t like this, and that EAS "don't look up" is the kind of stuff I can't get enough of, though sadly there's not that many good ones out there. The remake, on the other hand, lost some of that charm imo. It got streamlined and digested where it feels like it could be scenes from one of those movies where "a new family with a dumb kid and a troubled teen moves into a oddly cheap house where some spooky boogeyman awaits them" (a good one at that, but still something we already know). Kinda lost the chaotic horrifying vibe that I can only compare to waking up in the middle of a night with your conscious mind still half stuck in the fragments of the last nightmare, while your animal brain interprets any odd shadow or noise around you as some esoteric threat.

I think the jumpscare’s actually very important lore-wise, considering MADD is caused by pretty much an extreme existential crisis, which sounds like a leap, but bear with me. At first when I saw the series, I thought the test was a way of testing whether your kids were alright and unaffected by the stuff going around, but now I think it’s either a psychological home-test to check to if your kid will be safe or study if kids who don’t get abducted are the ones who respond within certain parameters. My mistake was thinking that the goal of the test was to gauge if your child was responding normally to stimulus (laughing/smiling at the beginning things and screaming/crying/showing discomfort at the later things), but in reality the goal was to see if the child *had any response at all.* This distinction is important because it would make the buildup to the scare intentional, meaning that the police department or researchers were using psychological techniques that are also used frequently in horror movies. It’s a snowball affect, where anxiety is actually shown to increase exponentially rather than linearly when you slowly increase suspense and use proper foreshadowing, leading up to the final scare which would be the payoff. The idea behind it is everything from the environment it says to put your kid in to the build up is all to make sure that a person who doesn’t scare easily could be filtered out from the people who don’t have an emotional response at all. Their theory is that a kid with no emotional response is either immune or resistant to the alternates. My only questions are, did they make it to test the theory or to figure out who’s kids are most at risk (do they *think* it or do they *know* it) and are they trying to use it as a way to narrow down how to treat MADD?

The restored edition is a bit better than the original, but it doesn't make the original look bad or outdated at all.

I like how the restoration makes it a bit less obvious that the police instruction video has been tampered with, with out it being completely unnoticeable.
