Did you know that you can install propshafts and props in the wrong way on your Miss Geico 36? I didn't know and it cost me headaches and money to get it right? All the parts I used are down below including both left and right side shafts and stuffing tube liners.

Just a tip in case you ever get your flex shafts mixed up. Take the prop you need for whatever side your trying to figure out, make one of the points face you. The blade on top should be slanted the same direction as the wires on the flex cable.

You can tweak your prop rotation to outward. You obviously need to match prop rotation to the direction of the flex shaft wind. You can reverse the rotation of the motors by switching two of the motor wires. Outward turning props will help the boat handle better turning, but insard turning like the default stock setup will tend to give more speed running straight.

Good video. The biggest thing I make sure to do is only remove oneside at a time when ever I work on the flex shafts or the props.

Glad I could help. Hate to see anyone go thru a situation where it cost money. But great video for the rest of us. The shaft itself I didn't know either. Didn't know about left or right props so I looked in my other boats and see how those props worked and saw the way it was designed. I upgraded the props on my Miss geico to make sure I got the right prop rotation. 1st time I have a boat like this myself but they have to counter turn each other so they don't act or fight against each other per say. Thanks for the exposure lol. Was a little surprised you even had my name up. Pretty cool. Well happy boating and also the video on a tip about the shaft.

I was a little confused until I went back and read the comments on that maintenance video.. So you and Denis Saucier helped me out? or are you Denis Saucier and replied under a diff YT account? I was unsure what you was saying lol but then after I lost a prop and destroyed a few shafts I had to figure something out. That's when Denis Saucier with the lasted comment reminded me what I had done wrong. I ordered the parts and fixed it. I'm going to do a test run with it today and try to get some footage of it. Thanks for your help as it saved me tons of $$$$..

It was a struggle for me cause I couldn't find detailed info on how the shafts and props go in. I honestly didn't think it mattered until I seen a dent in my pocket book. I opened my eyes when a subscriber told me I installed them backwards.

This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and it's because of the zelos 36 I'm looking to buy, but I really like that you don't have all the answers but you share what you've done even if it didn't work out. I've always pushed the stuffing tube forward a little and put thin ca. On the inside part of the tube and then quickly push it back in place. I don't have a twin yet but I thought they were better running with the props running outward. I guess I've learned a lot. Thanks

If you don't know. the props spin inwards it pushs the bow up outwards pushs bow down. When you do this you have to change motor directions. Which is best to do with program card not by just switching wires around ( which causes loss of rpms) motors don't run efficiently when doing this.the will run and it will work but it won't be as efficient.

That's good to know. I did figure out that the MG spins inward and I have that issue fixed now and can't wait till this crappy weather to go away so I can get it back into the water. Thanks for the info..!

I would recommend getting some prop savers and install them between the stuffing tube and motor collet in case one of cables loosens uu and spits the cable out the back of the boat

I own the Miss Geico 36 and watched your video and saw that you were not installing them correctly, but the video had been out for a while and figured you knew which direction they are supposed to rotate. Maybe I should have chimed in anyway. A tip, make sure that the motors are aligned perfectly, and the mounts are tight (not easy on this boat) I lost the left flex cable because of this. My best run so far is 80mph with stock props sharpened and balanced. She is a real adrenaline rush when she is running at speed.

I'll be honest but I had no clue and had to get an updated video out on this once I figured out the issue. It was nothing but tragedy every time I took this beast out since that maintenance video. This is what I love about this community cause most that's very well knowledged will chime in. I'm hoping to get a test run out on it today and see how she does. This is by far my favorite boat and won't give up on it..

Ali express has HD shafts for $15. I run them in all my triple digit boats. 👍🏼 the pro boat shafts will give out every time.

@@jaycevessier7554 for stock speeds they alright. Start pushing some real speeds they not gonna last long. Hopefully not running any good props with those shafts. 😂

@@gen1power102 I mean there’s more than 10 on here I can count that I know of that run stock shafts triple digits. Hell even the tfl boats are all triple digit out the box and everyone run stock shafts.

If you’re looking for attention there’s other ways to do it but no reason for you to give others info that will cause them to lose or break expensive stuff. My boats all run triples PROVEN And yours don’t. I know who’s advice I’m taking for sure. 🤣

You need to adjust the stingers downward a little bit Should help.

So I took out my motors and my props with the flex shaft attached still, how do I know which is my left and right side? I'm, I don't know how to tell which way the flex shaft is twisted if you could help that would be awesome. And as far as the motors, I guess I'll just have to try them out to see which one spins left door which one spins right

You don’t need the Teflon liners in the stuffing tubes. Get rid of them and grease the shafts every time out.

@@nwirc also make sure the spiral winding of the shaft matches the loading edge (front) of the prop.

You should try helicopters if you want a learning curve. Practice flying alone is a challenge. And even before that setup to make sure the heli will respond to your transmitter. Lol Boats are a piece of cake after that.

All you have to do is swap your wires around on motor to correct them from spinning wrong way. Also, you can spin them which ever direction you want, you just have to make sure to have the correct shaft on the correct side

I went through hell and back and the problem was me. I the shafts in the wrong way and the props installed backwards.. Everything is fine now and just waiting for icy ponds to defrost.

What is a stuffing tube used for?

The copper stuffing tube and a inner nylon liner is what holds the flex shaft in place.

Yea u can actually run them either direction, some pro cats run props spinning outward and some spinning inwards. One is better for speed and the other handling. As long as the threaded collet is in the correct direction, basically tightening itself with the rotation and same with the shaft, tightening the coil so to say, it will run well in either setup. The zondas run outward rotation stock and geico is inward. Glad u got it running good now, we’ve all been there loosing expensive props :)

I kinda understand what your saying and thanks for that. The zondas are awesome and will own one one day. This Geico is a good practice boat for now. These dual prop setups took me some time to learn lol. Oh and yes when that $80 prop and shaft sunk I was shocked but it was all my fault at the end of the day. That's is what I love about this hobby.. Live and Learn..!

To elaborate, picture a toy slinky (the spring looking toy). If u hold one end and rotate the other, one way will tighten the coil and make its diameter smaller. That’s the way u want it to spin on a flex shaft as it’s very similar. Hold one end of slinky and rotate it the other way and it will expand the diameter of coil, which is not good in a flex shaft. (unraveling it) Probably an easier way to explain it but that’s the best I got lol. The geico is def an awesome boat, one of my favs to run as it’s so stable in straights and turns. Zonda is good for speed runs since it’s a little narrower and won’t trap as much air under the hull with speed, the geico handles better tho imo

Disagree this geico runs one way. Other boats are design different like the zuna but the geico let's run it the way it comes out of the factory. Reason I say that is new to the hobby will get confused. Knowledge is money saved .complicated ideas might ruin or discouraged others just saying.
