In my opinion, one of the most important things as SL is relaying enemy tank location information to your teammates with map marks _and_ notifying them via audio at the same time, making sure everyone is aware of the threat. If another squad marks a tank on their map, make sure you copy the mark so your squad is also aware of the tank. Tanks have the potential to be _unbelievably_ influentual for their team and a good tank crew can control an entire half of the map. You are helping _your_ tanks ability to help _you_ by giving them the location and bearing of the enemy tanks so they can help remove the threat.

Good tips Terry. I love playing SL and when you have a talkative squad thats receptive to your orders and the squad sticks together it makes for the best games, win or lose!

I think two things that make a squad leader more enjoyable to play with are: 1) Using map markers and marking points that squad members call out. Nothing worse than calling out OPs, garrys, tanks and the SL doesn't do anything with that info. 2) Having a plan and communicating the plan. Even if it's simple like we're gonna defend grid square E8, or lets move to move the marker and build a garrison. Having some structure or a goal to achieve

Placing Garries, OPs and markers, but also communicating in chat or preferably by voice if we are attacking or defending. If a SL does that, then he or she is better than 90% of most SLs.

Adding to the garrison part. I’ve come across too many squad leads and commanders lately that will build garrisons like 10 meters into enemy lines. Commanders should know better than to drop supplies just over enemy lines and they confuse new SLs because they will run up to those supplies and build the garry without looking at the map first. Then, as you know, the garry is locked out instantly from some random enemy.

I love SL ( sometimes ) Level 9 now, my highest ranked role. So rewarding with a squad that communicates, frustrating as hell when only one or no one is talking. Congrats on 21k subs Terry! Been here since around 4k, always come to you for anything HLL related. Keep it up💯👍🏻

I’d say using your markers is pretty important as well for both your squad and command chat. Also updating/removing them as needed

+1 to not talking needlessly in command chat. I have to turn it down sometimes because it's just overwhelming chit chat.

Putting Garrisons right in the middle of a point. Major major mistake and it is happening more often recently

Pay attention to the map and where there are already supplies dropped! I play support as my go to load out and i just drop supplies where i believe garrisons should be built. if there is a squad leader nearby, i will usually try to tell them where i dropped supplies and can you please build a garrison. i've seen countless times, a squad leader approaching one of my supplies boxes on the map, and running right past it without building anything! granted, every supply box shouldn't have a garrison built on it, but BUILD GARRISONS!!! and pay attention to what is on the map!

Good list - Top of my tips - Align expectations with your squad from the get-go - I tell commander “my squad (say Baker) will defend” then tell the squad - “We are going to be a defensive mic only squad that requires team work. If that is not what you want to do now is the time to jump out and find another squad. I want someone to please take support, an engineer (to start my building nodes), an anti tank and a machine gunner. Support to come with me to build a defensive garrison, engineer please go and build some nodes, everybody else push the mid-point and if you get killed come back to the OP or a garrison near the point we are defending. Any questions? Everybody clear what they are doing to start with? OK lets have fun?” Maybe one person drops out but the rest have fun, win or lose.

Good tips; the mistakes that i use to see and that i do too, it's to don't put accurate marks on the map so everyone can be aware of what's going on and where, and... fill the squad radio and/or command radio with useless info, like jokes, what you had for lunch, etc.. .

I would like to say *listen to commander* is like number one!! I have won the last 3 games as commander due to having great Squad Leaders who legit do what their told.

I never uses mic, cuz I’m deaf. But I’m a very good SL because I communicate squad and commander with press K or L and type. So many people prefer that and less noise.

Not really a mistake but more of a tip and that is to rotate supports to place garrisons on red zones, I’ve seen so many SLs have great OP positions but they don’t know how to set up 100 supplies for garrisons instead they asked for a supply drop letting the enemy know where the next garrison will be, so many SLs either ignore my suggestions or simply think it’s not possible without a supply drop. There’s nothing worse than having 3 OPs across remagen bridge and nobody building a garrison or having a really good airhead slowly fail since since nobody built a garrison on it

I've been watching a lot of these videos and it's definitely increased my confidence in stepping into the role and doing well.

I would say don‘t rely to much on the Team. i had it quit often that SL Said we won‘t build garisons the other SLs can do it and in the end no one does it. Better do it yourself same with an Attack no ones stops their attack Even If the Point is getting caped because everyone thinks someone Else gonna do it

i really wish there was some kind of training or guidance (apart from your amazing one!) because noone plays the roles that are needed. The amount of times i get asked to play engineer yet i have played the role once or twice. I dont want to play a role and not do it well
