Hi jeremy. Awesome videos, im glad i'm suscribed to your valuable content, specially for us newbies in this topics. My purpose is playing classical pieces so i'm leaning towards a piano. Would you recommend the pearl river P60? it is very affordable in my country at around 400 USD, cheaper than all the pianos (privia P1000 is at 500 USD, celviano AP270 is at 700 USD, and at the same price than a casio CTX3000 (61 keys) arranger keyboard.

I totally agree with the 2nd point, however, I don’t recommend a 61 key piano, because like Jeremy said, classical and Sheet Music Boss’ arrangements use 88 keys. However, 61 keys can be an ideal for Mozart and Beethoven fans because they don’t compose anything lower then F1 and higher then F7. However, for Chopin, Liszt, Ravel and Debussy fans, you would need the 88.

I want my kids to learn piano...and I also want to start again (I think I was level intermediate plus)..--I bought and old american upright piano (built in 1913) , its tunned, I really like the sound and the touch on the keys (they are made from ivory (I know it was cruel...) but fingers dont slip...also it has very rich tones...it´s sounds beautiful....it has like a reverberation...but sometimes I only have time when they are asleep...so I think I could use one of this..with an earphone....so I can practice at night...thanks for all your reviews from Monterrey, MEXICO

Excellent video and topic. I have mentioned many of these points in comments of your previous videos, and how you stated that different keyboards have various purposes, features, and abilities, and lack thereof, which is why some other than one that just wants to play a single keyboard, old school piano style withsn acoustic or electric piano may want or need one or more keyboards, depending on what they are doing. True fact about mini key keyboards as you mentioned. Aside from various professional midi keyboard controllers and compact synths, the ones I would consider serious instruments is my Roland JD-Xi, which is not perfect, but is a jack of all trades, swiss army knife production keyboard. Especially for electronic, jazz fusion, r&b and similar genres. The other main keyboards is the genius concept design and form factor of the Yamaha Reface Series. The CP for vintage electronic keyboards with onboard effects and the hidden Easter Egg acoustic piano. The YC fir all the classic organs, effects snd controls. The DX for a mini version of landmark DX7 synth used in so many popular hit songs. And the CS for Yamaha vintage analog synth technology. Roland also released many of their famous and popular keyboards in mini module form with and interchangeable keyboard controller in their Boutique series. All of the above have great midi implementation for recording. And their there is the Yamaha PSS-A50, somewhat a unicorn, per se. It is a cross between a serious toy and entry professional mini keyboard at an incredible price of $100, reduced from $180. It's sounds are great, considering the price, and a limited but well thought out choice of different tones and features. It's forte is price, portability and multitasking abilities fir live oerformance and playing, if you master It's design like Masataka Kono does superbly, also using more than one, or in combo with the Casio CT-S1, and Yohan Kim does for the JD-Xi and Roland Go:Keys. The 37 key mini format is not conventional but has evolved from toys to serious instruments with the advanced technology over the years. They keyboard action is as good as it gets and can be expected in that form factor. Most people, myself included still find it awkward to play, including the limited number of keys, especially playing traditional sheet music, and with 61 note keyboards. There is often octave switching capabilities, but they vary in live playing practically and player ability and innovation. Proficiency in playing, experience and music knowledge and memory retention and application is very vital to draw the most out of these instruments as the artists I mention exemplifies better than any others I have seen. Another reminder is that musical skills is the fundamental importance and critical primary factor in musicianship in playing music. A person with such skills that can adapt and improvise from fake sheet music formats or create spontaneously from their inner being can make child's play out of the limited octave range keys. As you mentioned, other than those pursuing serious piano playing and study with traditional full weighted action 88 note pianos and keyboards, goid synth action and semi weighted key instruments are usually the most ideal, practical and affordable, lighter and portable. There are many other great keyboards, but the Casio CT-S1, Roland Go:Keys and Go:Piano are among the best in the $200 range, and the Yamaha PSR-E373 and Casio CT-S400 are among the best arrangers in that price range. Thr Casio CDP-S350, Yamaha DGX-670 and Alesis you reviewed are among the best in the $600 and under category, along with many of the Yamaha models, the Rokand FP series and others, albeit, smaller, lesser known brands are not as easy to get and do not get as much support or have as high quality control and reliability. Like stated, if your resources is more abundant, you can go with even more expensive keyboards that are still great values, but better. I discern and adapt my needs, wants and for future keyboards to not get what I really don't need at each stage at the moment.

Interesting one, simple without millions of buttons, and double the price i was looking at but looking at the video i decided to invest more. How are the keys? I did not understood from description, says something like the hard keys are pressed harder and light keys easier, so what i understood is from left to right but could also mean the force you are applying.

I just got in march 2022 the yamaha p121 which the baby sibling to the yamaha p125. At it price range $1000 candian and its sale price of $749.99 i liked the yamaha more then an equilivant roland. The only rolands i would even think about buying are the high end rolands. I am liking the the 73 weighted keys a lot more then the 61 keys of my old cheaper yamaha snyth keyboard without weighted key with like 100 onboard sounds which 80% of the sounds i did not needed.

Even if a digital piano/keyboard has a low volume, you can always plug it through the PA if you're performing in a biggish venue...

I have a question. Most keyboards have demo songs that are Western music. I am interested in demo songs of Bollywood. What suggestions do you have? Can any of the entry-level learning/lighterd keyboards load additional/alternate demo songs?

Jeremy, I've always been passionate about music, and decided recently to add the piano to my musical repertoire, starting with a keyboard (because im NOT an oil sheik, so i do, unfortunately, have a budget), and one day upgrading to a grand piano. I was almost lured by a bundle by Amazon even though i fell for the same thing with my flute several years back 🤦🤦🤦 (believe me, it didn't take long to replace THAT). Your videos helped me find a keyboard that fit within my budget that had the features & capabilities that would be necessary for me and my musical desires, and also managed to help me find the one that fits my ultimate need musically, which i don't usually expect in my first instrument of any kind - I need to feel something in my heart and soul when I hear the instrument play. So thank you, very much, for helping me find the right keyboard for me and my needs without breaking the bank, without sacrificing quality, and unfortunately being able to satisfy my ultimate musical need without years of searching.

Hey jeremy is PSR E373 good for a beginner keyboard player to play piano classics??

If you want to learn to play a real piano, I would suggest that you buy a digital piano and not a keyboard. You need something with fully weighted keys, not synth style keys.

As Smokey said. If you want to play piano classics ask for weighted keys

Hey Jeremy, I think it would be great if you could review the M-Audio hammer 88. I think it would be an interesting review given given the fact that it is a hammer action midi controller with lots of included software.

I have a question. As a beginner, do I need a keyboard that has a pitch bend wheel? I plan to buy Casio ctx700, however, I am worried that it does not have the pitch bend wheel feature.

Then better take the CT-X 800. It has a pitch bend wheel onboard ! But a real beginner does not need pitch bend.

Right now I'm using a cheap clacky unweighted keyboard, And my mom keeps commenting how she likes the music I make, but it gets ruined by the loud clacking noise. So I am looking for a new keyboard to save up to. Thanks for the advice!
